PULLMAN, WASHINGTON: A woman, allegedly from Washington State University (WSU), where University of Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger was studying criminology, has claimed that a man tried to force himself into her home. The claim came even as investigators are gathering evidence to solve the murder of four University of Idaho students who were murdered about 10 miles from the University of Idaho campus.

On November 13, 2022, four University of Idaho students --  Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kerndole, Madison Mogen and Ethan Chapin -- were stabbed to death at their off-campus residence. After a weeks-long investigation, Kohberger, a 28-year-old criminology student was arrested from his parents' home in Pennsylvania, thousands of miles away from the apartment where the murders took place. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and felony burglary.

'I do not wish this situation on anyone'

In a recent post on a subreddit dedicated to discussions of the Idaho murder suspect, a redditor posted the screenshot of a message, writing, "Wsu still creeps on the loose." In the screenshot shared, a woman, identifying herself as Daniela, a PhD student, narrated a scary experience she allegedly had. "I was walking to my apartment door when I noticed a black car with no plates and no car logo parked in front of my apartment door. The trunk was open and the car running," the post reads.

The woman then narrated that as she was about to close her apartment door, she realized that there was a man behind her who suddenly grabbed the door handle. "I was able to push all my body weight against the door to prevent him from coming in," the post added. As per the post, Daniela contacted the police, but before they arrived, the man allegedly kept ringing the doorbell, while trying to force open the door and knocking on it. The man was gone once police arrived, she wrote.

Redditors divided over student's claim

While some reddittors expressed concern, some felt that the post was fake. "So scary! Hope they checked the area for that car and are looking for it ! (Is it something in the water ? Wtf!" wrote a user, while another commented, "Be safe, change up your routine going home. Get pepper spray and carry it in your hands going to your apartment." A third user wrote, "Wow, unbelievable. Thanks for warning others."

Among those who believed that the post was fake, one user wrote, "Show Police report or just more fake attention seekers." A second user commented, "This seems either fake or made up. The woman saw a "car with no plates and no car logo parked in front of my apartment door. The trunk was open and the car running. I kept walking to my door...". Agreeing with them, a third user wrote, "I was thinking the same thing. In no way am I attempting to victim shame if in fact, this did happen, but there are three things that stood out to me that make me think this might be fake." They then enumerated why the post may have been fake.
