In a shocking turn of events, a few vehicles parked around Palm Beach had some threatening, unwelcoming notes on their windshields. The incident was reported to the police on Sunday, January 2. The note read, "If you are one of those ‘woke’ people — leave Florida. You will be happier elsewhere, as will we."

Every character on the letter was typed out in capital letters. These letters were found on cars parked across Sunrise Avenue, Bradley Place, and Seaview Avenue. The Palm Beach Police Department briefly investigated the situation and found no actual crime had been committed. As reported by the New York Post, police said this note and the threat were indicated towards those who lean left politically.

On a phone call, Captain William Rothrock, the department’s public information officer told the publication, "Residents were concerned about the lack of civility and respect for personal property. We understood that concern and that’s why we started to look into the matter but we determined … it was non-criminal in nature. As uncivil as it may be and not characteristic of our community, it is not a crime." Rothrock could not determine the exact number of targeted cars. However, he did make this observation that most targeted license plates were out-of-state but of New York.

After reading the letter, netizens shared their opinions on Twitter. One user said, "I live in Florida. In our area everyone is welcome. There are MANY NewYorkers. Overall not very friendly people. I hope the sun and environment will help them to relax. I saw a car decal that says "Don't New York my Florida". .. I really hope they don't."

Another user said, "I think you are confused. This is democracy and the definition of free speech. They have an opinion, they expressed it civilly. You may chose to agree or disagree. Recycle the paper and move on!"

Sharing their views on this incident, this user said, "Democracy is in danger...and that is due to the progressive, far left, woke people who believe their views are universal when in fact, few people subscribe to there philosophy though these folks that a huge megaphone such as this liberal media rag."

Similarly, another user said, "YES. Our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC is in peril - from a dangerous political disease known as "Socialism". New Yorkers ARE among the potential carriers of this disease. If you want Socialism, go live in Cuba. The U.S. IS NOT the Socialist Oligarchy that the Left wants."
