Sara Nowak: Wisconsin mom-of-six dies in car crash just five hours after husband's funeral
PALMYRA, WISCONSIN: A Wisconsin woman reportedly died in a car crash just five hours after burying her husband. Sara Nowak, 42, was killed in a single-vehicle crash after attending the funeral of her husband, Louis. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 1, on State Highway 106 near Calkins Road in Palmyra. According to a preliminary investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle which then entered a ditch and overturned.
Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath told PEOPLE that one occupant was ejected from the vehicle, but died at the scene. Louis died of cancer on March 19. He and Nowak were married for six years and had six children.

'I don't think she could be without him'
"I don't think she could be without him. So, she is with him," Nowak's grieving mother Patricia Cartwright told CBS 58. She added, "We want everyone to remember her as being full of life." Nowak's father, Randal, was left devastated after learning of his daughter's death. "It's really hard because you get done and then five and half hours later, you get a call saying that your daughter was in an accident," he said.
Nowak's parents said that she had it tough in the past six months as Louis was battling cancer. "He fought, he fought really hard," Randal said. He described his daughter as a positive person. "Whenever there was something that somebody needed, she would say, 'Don't worry we got this,'" he said.
Sara Nowak's friend created a GoFundMe page
After Louis was diagnosed with cancer in February 2022, Nowak's friend Kathy Palmer created a GoFundMe to help raise funds for him. Now after Nowak's untimely demise, Cindy Krey, a family friend created a GoFundMe to help the grieving family with funeral expenses and living costs.
"Sara went to visit Louis in heaven after his funeral," Krey wrote on the fundraiser, adding, "Please help them even if its only a couple extra dollars that you have. They just lost their grandpa a couple weeks ago so they have a lot of healing to do. They need all the help they can get during this horrific time."
