PEWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: A four-year-old Wisconsin girl has been an inspiration to everyone she meets as she battles a terminal illness. Delaney Krings was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer in October 2022. Her heartbroken family was told she only has 6 weeks left. In honor of their daughter's final birthday on December 16, her parents are asking people to send her cards from all over the world.

“She brought light and love to people. That’s why she is our angel,” Heather Krings, Delaney’s mother, said. “And apparently she’s being called elsewhere to finish her angel work.” Delaney is being cared for by her father at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. In order to keep her company, her parents take turns staying with her. Until she goes home next week for hospice care, she spends her days and nights like that, as per WCVB

“You can’t really convey to a little kid that they won’t be around much longer,” Heather Krings said, adding, “She is a kid who has been dealt a card no kid should have.” According to Heather Krings, though doctors gave her such a dire diagnosis, there was some time she would be able to spend with her family in the weeks she has to live. However, an infection has reduced that time even further. “You just try to process it. She’s four, you know?” Heather Krings said.

Delaney's family friend is asking the public to send her birthday cards for her fifth birthday on December 16. According to her mother, cards are pouring in, even from the United Kingdom. "On the maps that we have up, we have stickers to put for all of the locations for where the cards have come from, so Laney can see that she's got love from all over the world from people she doesn't even know. And it has taken off. I believe there were 400 cards in the mail today," Heather Krings said.

Their goal is to keep Delaney smiling and laughing for as long as possible. "As long as she still knows what's going on, she can laugh, she can hear, she can see, she knows us, she remembers us. That clock, you have to ignore it because what's our purpose here? To make whatever time she has left as best as we can," Heather Krings said.

As part of their support efforts, the family has started a GofundMe and shared the following address:
