'Wonder Man' will get to flex its powers some more as Disney+ has renewed the superhero series for Season 2. The news came on March 23, nearly two months after the series debuted with eight episodes on January 27. Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest have co-created the action-adventure series, which is inspired by the Marvel Comics character Simon Williams / Wonder Man. The first season was well received, with fans praising the unique blend of action and comedy. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays the aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams, who develops ionic powers and tries to land a leading role in a big-budget production while hiding his powers from his mentor, Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley).

Season 1's official logline states, "Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams (Abdul-Mateen) is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery (Kingsley), an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) is remaking the superhero film 'Wonder Man.' These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry." Simon is unaware that Trevor is hired by the Department of Damage Control (DODC) to spy on him and check whether he has superhero powers. Since Hollywood has implemented the Doorman Clause, which bans superheroes from working in the industry, it could lead to Simon's career ending before it even takes off.

While Disney+ hasn't shared plot details for Season 2 of the superhero satire, creator Guest told GeekTyrant on January 29 that he will address Josh Gad's storyline in the next season. Gad's cameo role saw him play a heightened version of himself in the series. His character disappears after attempting to pass through Door Man / DeMarr Davis in Episode 4. "If we get a Season 2, my promise is to get Josh Gad out of Door Man, and back into the world," he said of the character's abrupt ending. He further teased that "maybe Josh Gad would have Door Man powers, after having been inside him for so long. Maybe Josh Gad becomes the new Door Man!"

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will reprise their roles as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, respectively, in Season 2 of 'Wonder Man.' Other cast members from the first season who will likely return include X Mayo as Simon's agent, Janelle Jackson, Demetrius Grosse as Simon's brother Eric Williams, Zlatko Burić as the Oscar-winning director Von Kovak, Arian Moayed as the DODC agent, P. Cleary, and Olivia Thirlby as Simon's ex-girlfriend Vivian.
