'Outer Range' Season 3 Update: Here's the renewal status of Prime Video's sci-fi series
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Outer Range' Season 2 is streaming on Prime Video from May 16, 2024, and fans who have seen all seven episodes of the sci-fi mystery thriller are craving for more and eagerly anticipating a third season for 'Outer Range'.
'Outer Range' is created by Brian Watkins and has a cast that boasts actors like Josh Brolin, Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Shaun Sipos, Tamara Podemski, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Isabel Arraiza, Will Patton, and others
'Outer Range' Season 2 ends at a point where Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin) has a vision that he interprets as the future coming. In one of the final shots of the series Autumn Rivers (Imogen Poots) tells Royal that this is just the beginning. The second season had a constant theme of time being fluid. Even in his vision, Royal sees his family telling him that time is a river.
With so many questions unanswered will there be a third season that gives some insight into the mystery of the hole and time? Here is what we know.
'Outer Range' Season 3 update
Unfortunately for the fans of the series, there is no announcement so far from the producers of 'Outer Range' or from Prime Video about the renewal of the series for a third season.
However, the second season ended with Amy Abbott (Olive Abercrombie) finding herself in the future and calling herself Autumn. Further, Royal Abbott and other characters see Autumn leading a cult in their vision. The latest addition to the cult is Rebecca Abbott who has a vision of joining the cult after being smeared by time dust.
So, it seems that the makers do have something in mind for the future seasons of this series and will announce it probably after gauging the response for the second season. If the reception is good and the streaming numbers are up to expectations, a third season could soon be on the horizon.
What could be the plot of 'Outer Range' Season 3?
'Outer Range' season 2 had a lot of unanswered questions that could be answered in Season 3. First, the journey of Amy to Autumn and her becoming the leader that she is promised to become could be the main plot point of the series.
Perry Abbott (Tom Pelphery) comes out of the hole and prevents himself from killing Trevor Tillerson (Matt Lauria) and instead sees his past version die in front of him. He throws his past version into the hole and goes on to live with his family as if nothing had happened.
Now, this raises questions about the entire series because the events of the series were set in motion in the first season with Trevor Tillerson's death. The third season could shed some light on it.
Finally, the mystery of the hole and time is still perplexing as we see people going into the hole and conveniently coming out right where they need to be. In a scene, we also see Wayne Tillerson (Will Patton) talking to the hole before jumping into it. Through the season, a common theme was time being fluid. Does that mean multiple dimensions of time can co-exist? We will have our answers in the third season.
