'Cancel culture only goes one way': Will Smith foundation's partners like Spotify and Adidas slammed for silence
The corporate partners of ‘The Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation’ which includes names like Lyft, Spotify, the Obama foundation, Adidas, and Paramount, have been blasted after they failed to say anything about the Oscars' 'Slap-gate'. Will Smith smacked Chris Rock on-stage during the 94th Academy Awards after the latter seemingly made fun of Jada Pinkett Smith's hair loss due to alopecia.
Rock compared Jada’s baldness to Demi Moore’s signature 'shaved head' look in the 1997 movie, 'G.I. Jane,' which did not go down well with the ‘King Richard’ star as well as his wife. While the 50-year-old Jada just rolled her eyes to express her displeasure, Will took things a step further and went on to hit the comedian while thousands watched. He also reportedly told him to “keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth!”

Though a lot of Hollywood personalities have slammed Will’s behavior at the Oscars last Sunday night, on March 27, there are organizations and foundations — with ties with the star and his wife — that have not yet commented on the incident. Breitbart News Network reported that when it reached out to these corporate partners, they did not “comment on whether or not they will cut ties with Smith and his family, even though at least three of them haven’t been shy in the recent past about voicing their positions on controversial political and social issues.”
The commentary website also mentioned that Will and Jada’s foundation, established in 1996, is mostly “funded by money from a trust that is apparently controlled by the couple, who has put in an average of $1.6 million each year for the last three years. The charity handed out close to $800,000 in donations to various causes in 2019, including the Academy Foundation, which is a division of the motion picture Academy.”
Calling out the companies, a user tweeted, “Why?? Where is all that ‘woke’ BS they are always spewing??” The second one wrote, “Does @adidasUS endorse assault? Does @Spotify supports a good beating when done by a BIPOC?” “Funny how Will Smith’s corporate partners Paramount, Lyft, Spotify et al are sticking with him despite the mushrooming controversy over the Oscars slap. Cancel culture only goes one way. It’s good to be a left-wing elite,” the third user said.

A number of people also commented below Breitbart’s article. One commentator wrote, “Boycott those companies who sponsor thugs. Vote with your wallet.” Another one noted, “The only way. Trillion$ in corporate-conglomerate, advertising budgets sponsor MSM, hollyweird, and social media.” The third one stated, “And Fitbit - they have Smith's mug plastered on their main website. They need to add a blurb like, ‘Fitbit can now measure how many calories you burn per face slap!’”
A person mentioned, “If you wanna show Hollywood you are over them, CANCEL your cable... its the fastest and most direct way to show them. Not buying Adidas shoes isn't gonna do a thing.” “Boycott those companies who sponsor comedians who mock a woman going bald due to a disease,” the second one added. “Bald jokes about men seem to be well-tolerated, regardless of why the guy is bald. Just consider this part of the equality the lefties demand. Besides, Will laughed at the joke before he went ballistic,” a comment read.
