‘Frozen’ directors tease emotional Anna-Kristoff moment fans have been eagerly awaiting in the next movie
'Frozen 3' is set to melt the hearts of fans with a possible wedding between Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff). The two got engaged at the end of 'Frozen 2,' hence, the wedding plotline's inclusion in the upcoming movie is not a complete surprise. However, Disney has kept the plot details for the third installment in the animated franchise tightly under wraps so far, so this latest development is welcome news to fans, who have to wait until November 24, 2027, to catch up with Elsa, Anna, and the gang in theaters. The news came from the film's director and writer, Jennifer Lee, in the documentary, 'Disney+ Insider: World of Frozen.' The documentary, which dropped on Disney+ on March 29, offers a tour of the 'World of Frozen' land at Disneyland Paris.
The documentary centers on the 'World of Frozen' but includes a cute interaction between Lee, Trent Correy (the film's co-director) and an actress dressed as Anna. Lee asks Anna about her upcoming nuptials. "We hear there are big wedding plans happening," Lee says, to which Anna replies, "Oh, yes! I'm so excited." When Trent asks about the wedding preparations, Anna adds, "Olaf said he likes to be in charge of all the party planning in Arendelle, and he told us that him and Kristoff had been planning a really big surprise for the Snowflower Festival." For now, this is our strongest hint that the couple's wedding will serve as a major plot point in the musical fantasy franchise's third installment, until Disney officially confirms the news.
Additionally, if the clue is anything to go by, then Arendelle's Snowflower Festival will also play an important role in the story of 'Frozen 3' and tie into the grand wedding. Given that the film's release date is more than a year away, we have a long wait ahead before learning about the plot details. It is also possible that Disney will follow the playbook from Elsa's coronation and turn the royal wedding into a debacle that will catalyze the film's larger conflict.
'Frozen' (2013) cast a spell on audiences, becoming one of Disney Animation's biggest hits and earning $1.28 billion at the worldwide box office. Its 2019 sequel, 'Frozen 2' surpassed the original and grossed $1.45 billion globally. The two films have amassed a total of $2.73 billion at the global box office. To capitalize on the film's momentum, Disney greenlit 'Frozen 3' in February 2023 and 'Frozen 4' in November. The next sequel will see Idina Menzel and Bell reprise their roles as the royal sisters, Elsa as Anna, respectively. Jonathan Groff will voice the iceman, Kristoff, while Josh Gad will bring the snowman Olaf to life alongside other characters from the first two movies.
