Will 2HYPE shut down? Here's why Mopi left content creator collective as fans say 'channel won't be same again'

YouTuber and social media influencer Mopi has revealed his reasons for leaving 2HYPE.

What is 2HYPE?

For those who don't know what 2HYPE is, it is a creator group based in Los Angeles, California. Initially, the group focused on NBA2K content, but they have branched out in the recent years to other sports, lifestyle and challenge videos. They frequently feature in videos on each other’s channels and live together in the 2HYPE House. Current members of the group are Jesse “Jesser” Riedel, James “Jiedel” Riedel, Kristopher “LSK” London, Cassius “CashNasty” Clay, Zack “ZackTTG” Mowley and Mitchell “Moochie” Crowley.

The news of Mopi's exit came earlier in December after a week-long social media hiatus. 2HYPE explained that he was taking some time away from the internet to focus on his mental health. However, according to a 44-minute video posted on December 30 by Mopi, whose real name is Tyler, it seems he wants to leave for personal reasons with several other 2HYPE members. Explanation

"Before getting into things, I wanna make a few things clear. First few being that I turned down being in the 100Thieves deal and I chose to leave 2HYPE," he began in the video. "I'm not doing YouTube for the money or the clout. I don't like that word but I gotta use it. It's not fame, it's just clout, internet clout."

He continued, "I got serious issues with four of the people in the six members of the group. I'm not counting Cash [Nasty] and Mitchell (Moochie). I got respect for them but the rest of them, no."

"And for anybody thinking I'm making this video for money or clout, you are sadly mistaken because I walked away from so much money. You guys have no idea. So much money and so much clout too. I could've faked it and gone along with everything and been a part of 100Thieves, I would've loved to be part of 100Thieves and that would've been a lot of money too. But I'm not doing it for those reasons. I'm doing YouTube for fun and being around those guys is not fun.

"Knowing all I do now about the group, I would not be able to have pride within myself and be happy knowing I'm staying with these guys knowing all that they have done, so, yeah, I'm leaving. I have no clue what I'm gonna do, but I am not being around those people."

Mopi said that they sent him a cease-and-desist letter and "are threatening to sue" if he isn't careful with what he says in his explanation. Before going in-depth further in the video, Mopi summarized by saying, "I've just been completely used and abused. Like, used online my Mopi personality and abused as Tyler. Like, everybody forgetting about Tyler and only caring about Mopi and Mopi showing up for the videos."

Will 2HYPE shut down?

Although we can't be sure of how things will go for 2HYPE from here on, fans are speculating its future isn't looking bright without Mopi and it has become a subject of debate. "Don’t care about any of this still going to enjoy watching 2Hype that’s his problem not mines. And nothing or nobody is going to change that," said a fan, to which another replied, "Hope you realize theyre channel will never be the same again. Would not be surprised if they stop uploading. Theyre going to lose partnerships, a shitload of fans, and their entire images. So enjoy watching. No way they upload fun happy go lucky videos for atleast 3 months."

One fan writes, "We support you and appreciate you for being a honest and not money hungrey person Tyler."
