Why Keanu Reeves said Johnny Depp was 'better looking' than him before bagging Matrix franchise
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Keanu Reeves has a lot of admirers but the ‘John Wick’ star apparently feels he’s nothing in front of Johnny Depp. Reeves and Depp have been contemporaries starting their career almost around the same time, and it has been said that there was a time when the 58-year-old claimed to be less good-looking than the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star.
In 1991, Reeves reportedly shared with the UK music magazine Smash Hits (via WhoaIsNotMe.com) that “Johnny Depp had another world happen to him - he got locked into that television series, (that is '21 Jump Street') and television is seen by more people than I'll ever dream of. And Johnny Depp's better looking than me.”

'I'm a meathead'
That is not all. Surprisingly in 2003, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ star even called himself "dumb." According to a report by The Independent, he stated, “I'm a meathead. You've got smart people and you've got dumb people. I just happen to be dumb.”He also reportedly does not believe in the happiness that comes from success and lots of money.
For Reeves, happiness is “lying in bed with my lover, riding my bike, sports, happy times with my friends, conversation, learning, the earth, dirt, a beautiful repast with friends, family with wine and glorious food and happy tidings and energy and zest and lust for life. I like being in the desert, in nature, being in extraordinary spaces in nature, high in a tree or in the dirt, hanging out with my family, my sisters.”
'I love the world of John Wick'
Not much has changed in the ‘Constantine’ star despite him now being successful registering himself as one of the top favorites. Recently, he spoke with Entertainment Tonight and discussed 'John Wick 4’ while praising his colleagues and director. He said, “I love playing the character. I love the world of John Wick. Chapter 4 is so ambitious. The director, Chad Stahelski, had such an expansive vision for the film. We have so many new characters.”
Referring to the success of the franchise, he went on to say, “It feels authentic in a way, you know what I mean? It still has that independent movie spirit. I feel like John Wick gives audiences heart, like, come on in! Come along for the ride! Buckle up, you're going to see some action. It's gonna be funny, there's gonna be some ideas, rules, consequences, survive getting knocked down and get back up. Fight for your freedom. Go against the man. So, there's a lot of things that we can relate to.”
'I0'm working with amazing artists and stories'
The ‘Bill & Ted’ actor added, “I think it speaks to the films that I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of. I mean, I’m working with amazing artists and stories. And these directors and people and studios sometimes agree to let me be a part of telling stories.”
Reeves also mentioned his co-star Ana De Armas and said, “She's an amazing artist. The story existed, and this artist is a wonderful fit for it... Ana was like, 'I love that painting, but I’m going to go make that my own.' So it was cool to be in someone else’s painting but to be the paint, and the landscape.”
