Why did Josh and Shannon exit 'Love Island'? Heartbroken fans miss them

Despite all the odds, Josh Goldstein and Shannon St Clair managed to stay coupled up on 'Love Island' since day one. Initially, fans were convinced that Josh and Shannon's relationship wouldn't last for too long owing to the trust issues and constant fights between them. But Josh was determined to prove to Shannon that he was really into her and had no intentions of hurting or cheating on her. He stayed loyal to her and eventually earned her trust.

The couple was even touted as the 'strongest couple' in the villa, and many fans were also convinced that the couple would probably win the $100,000 prize this year. Unfortunately, that might not happen as Josh and Shannon decided to leave the show. After a fun night of pajama party, the islanders woke up to find Shannon and Josh's bed empty. The couple then walked in and informed that they made the difficult decision to leave the show together.

Why did Josh and Shannon leave 'Love Island'?

Josh then revealed that he just received a message from his family that his sister had died. He wanted to be by his family's side during this difficult time. Shannon decided to accompany Josh and extend her support to him. Josh broke down while expressing how much his sister meant to him. He explained that his sister was the reason he came on 'Love Island', which in turn helped him find the love of his life, Shannon.

Josh has always been big on family. One cursory glance of his Instagram page and it's clear that he loves his baseball and family a lot. He posted several pictures with his family, including his sister Lindsey Beth. Josh didn't reveal any further details about his sister or her sudden death. He last posted a picture of himself with his sister and mother in April 2019. He captioned the picture, "Happy whatever we celebrate 🐰❓."

In an older post, he wished his sister on her birthday. "Congrats for being a quarter century dead....much love for u sis." It looks like Josh and Lindsey shared a great relationship with each other. We extend our condolences to the family. Fans too were sad and heartbroken for Josh and Shannon. A fan tweeted, "Already miss Josh and Shannon. Sending love and prayers to his family #LoveIslandUSA." Another fan wrote, "Sending my thoughts and prayers to Josh, Shannon, and Josh's family for their loss. So glad you and Shonnon found each other, Josh, and are happy together. #loveislandusa." "We all knew josh and shannon were going to win!! give them the money to help w funeral expenses!! they deserve it! literally my heart is breaking! #LoveIslandUSA @loveislandusa," commented a fan. "This is not how we wanted Shannon & Josh out I’m heartbroken #LoveIslandUSA," added a fan.

'Love Island' Season 3 airs on Tuesday through Friday at 9 pm ET/PT on CBS. In addition, 'Love Island' will air on Sunday nights from 9 to 11 pm ET/PT for the remainder of the season. You can also stream the episodes on Paramount+.
