Xzavier skipped ‘Temptation Island’ reunion but there’s more to the story— Messy truth between him and Sydney
'Temptation Island' Season 2 tested the loyalties of four couples in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with only one of them passing the test and coming out stronger at the other end. Mikey Bivens and Sydney McGregor were one of the three couples who broke up at the end of the season. Not only that, Sydney left the show with the tempter Xzavier Odom, who swept the aesthetician off her feet with his guitar and emotional availability. Fans were dying to know if the duo is still together after leaving the island. The reunion special is set to catch up with the couples eight months after filming wrapped up. The special is split into two parts, with the first part dropping at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and the second part following on Friday on The Viall Files YouTube channel.
However, Xzavier was conspicuous with his absence at the reunion special; instead, Sydney was seen with Mikey. The reunion host, Nick Viall, revealed that Xzavier didn't show up because the tempters weren't invited for the special, as the showrunners wanted to focus only on the couples. They decided to avoid any awkwardness stemming from the fact that some of them hooked up with the tempters and temptresses on the island. But there's another reason that Xzavier couldn't be at the reunion special. He and Sydney are no longer together as she broke up with him four days after saying, "I genuinely have fallen in love with you," at the final bonfire.
Sydney explained her decision at the reunion by saying, "I wasn’t going to jump into another relationship, although I was dating him on the island. Mikey was my best friend." Moreover, she got back together with Mikey soon after the cameras stopped rolling. "Me and Sydney got back together. Everything was going good, it was phenomenal," Mikey said of their reunion. However, the live music event host added that he couldn't shake off the experience of seeing Sydney with another man on the island. "I was holding onto what I experienced on the island. That was not fair to her whatsoever. Any inkling, any argument, I’d be throwing that jab at her. It was tearing her down," he admitted. Hence, they walked away from each other again, but decided to stay on friendly terms.
Sydney also mentioned that she reached out to Xzavier around four months ago and met him for coffee to clear the air. "We spoke about everything. I told him everything me and Mikey went through. I told him I’m really working on myself and trying to process everything." Xzavier was gracious enough to let go of the past and accept her offer of friendship.
