Why was Caillou canceled? Here's why parents hated the cartoon character so much despite 20-year-run on PBS Kids
You know how 2021 is already being dubbed as the 'healing', right? In a more blissful turn of events for parents, the infamous, follicly-challenged boy Caillou's journey is finally coming to an end on PBS Kids. The network made the announcement, along with a few tips on how to tell your kids about their favourite media going off-air. But none of that mattered to people joining in a global celebration of being rid of the precocious, 'whiny' four-year-old, whom most adults found to be an "annoying" menace. It was not just the parents but people all over Twitter began pouring in and joining the celebrations. Does this make you curious as to why do people, and parents in particular, hate Caillou so much? And why was the two-decade-old show cancelled at all?
As for why Caillou was cancelled, PBS kids signed off with: "We're saying farewell to @cailloudhx, but remember, when we say goodbye to something..." and followed it up with "...It just means we get to say hello to something new! Here are tips for what to do when your child's favourite media goes away." Caillou first appeared on the Canadian network TV Ontario and later aired on PBS Kids in America. The first episode aired in 1997, and although PBS won't mention anything, based on the replies to the tweets from PBS Kids, the reason isn't difficult to deduce.

Looks like most parents hated Caillou because of the bratty kid he was, constantly pestering his parents and baby sister. As one user pointed out "What was even the message with that show all I remember was him whining about everything and being kinda violent." Others explained, "Caillou after a two-decade run on PBS Kids, has officially been cancelled. Feedback to the news has been generally positive, which reflects just how much people, including parents of the target demographic, were never a fan of Caillou's attitude in the series." Some claimed "Caillou was an entitled little brat who whined and had possibly the most annoying voice on prime time next to the ex-president and Fran Drescher. Sorry Fran."

There's also an alleged theory going around that claims that Caillou has Cancer therefore his parents let him get away with everything. Along with theories disbanding the claim, a person tweeted: "Oh wow!! So he was just a brat. I didn't let my nephews watch him cause he had a smart mouth and threw Temper tantrums. Not in my house." Another simply explained: "i will not hesitate to start a Twitter beef with a caillou stan. society is better without that bald-headed brat, the only thing i respect of him is whenever he committed aggravated assault on that baby." With varied reasoning behind their anger and hatred, it makes sense why the network would pull the plug on his allegedly insufferable display. And some brave fans courageously expressed love too.
