HANOI, VIETNAM: MTV's 'The Challenge' has kicked off its highly anticipated 40th season, the biggest one yet. Featuring 40 cast members from four different eras of the show, the competition is fierce right from the beginning. The first 'Era Invitational' has immediately tested veteran contestants, with sixteen participants facing elimination and early tensions flaring among friends and rivals. In the premiere episode of 'The Challenge' Season 40, which aired on Wednesday, August 14, 40 contestants went head-to-head in an individual competition called 'Light It Up.' The season's first daily challenge highlighted their puzzle-solving and balance skills.

Following the first challenge, the winners from each era were: Era 1: Chris "CT" Tamburello and Rachel Robinson, Era 2: Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio and Laurel Stucky, Era 3: Cory Wharton and Tori Deal, Era 4: Horacio Gutiérrez and Michele Fitzgerald. Laurel Stucky, one of the Era 2 winners, recently took to Instagram to criticize the MTV show's producers for altering visuals during the initial task. "Fyi!! I hate when they make it look close and it's not... i finished ahead of everyone- men and women. I was so far ahead no one was even in the water yet and i was on my way back to shore (except CT he got in the boat when I was heading back to shore)," Laurel wrote on her Instagram Story. "I hate they sometimes make it seem close between people for dramatics when it wasn't close at all," Laurel added.
