STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK CITY: On September 3, a tragic car accident on the Staten Island Expressway claimed the lives of Gabriella Shammas and Jianna Pischetola, both 22 years old.
The fatal incident occurred when the vehicle they were in collided with a guardrail after losing control.

As of September 5th, the campaign has raised over $64,000, surpassing its initial goal of $50,000. As per the GoFundMe page, Gabriella Shammas was only 22 years old.
The Shammas family initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Gabriella Shammas' funeral expenses following this devastating event.
The page read, “As we remember Gabriella, we are faced with the difficult task of saying our goodbyes and providing her with the send-off she deserves”.

How did Gabriella Shammas die?
According to information from the Daily News, the tragic deaths of Gabriella Shammas and Jianna Pischetola took place as part of the second fatal accident on the expressway that day.
Pischetola was reportedly driving eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle. Tragically, both young women were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
Reports from New York Post indicate that around 11 pm on Sunday, Jianna Pischetola's Chevrolet Corvette struck a guardrail in the vicinity of Clove Road.
Following the impact, the car overturned and subsequently crashed into a pickup truck. This chain of events led to a fiery explosion as the car entered a crowded lane on the Staten Island Expressway.
Her family wrote, “Gabriella had an unparalleled ability to light up any room she entered. Her infectious smile and boundless energy could turn even the darkest days into moments of joy”.
“She had a heart that was as big as her smile, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her kindness and compassion were a testament to the remarkable person she was”.
