'The Voice' Season 21: Who is Tommy Edwards? Blake's choice 'sounds like a winner'
Country music legend Blake Shelton certainly knows a thing or two on how to seek out the right talent for his Team Blake on 'The Voice'. With only one spot left on Team Blake, the OG coach and eight-time 'The Voice' champion was pretty anxious about finding the perfect performer that would help him close his team. Luckily for Blake, Tommy Edwards fit the bill perfectly.
Tommy's effortless blending of rock and country in his performance to Train's 'Drops of Jupiter' immediately piqued Blake's interest. He wasted no time in turning his chair and watched Tommy's performance in awe. Moments later John Legend followed Blake's footsteps and turned his chair too. Both the coaches were mesmerized by Tommy's incredible performance. Despite John's best attempt at persuading Tommy to join Team Legend, he picked Team Blake. Who is Tommy Edwards?
Tommy is a 27-year-old from Montana. Aside from his keen interest in fly fishing, Tommy also enjoys singing and performing. In his introduction segment, Tommy revealed that he grew up watching and performing with his father who plays with various bands. "All the different bands that I play in, my father and I sing in the together. People ask where I learned to sing, and my only answer is him," he explained.
Tommy's father expressed great pride at his son's decision to audition for 'The Voice'. Tommy's wife and kids too cheered for him. With the blessings and cheers from his whole family, Tommy took to the stage and immediately made it his own. He put his own spin to 'Drops of Jupiter' that impressed all the coaches. Although Kelly Clarkson didn't turn her chair for him, she admitted that if she had more spots left on her team she would have definitely turned for him. When it was finally time for him to pick his coach he chose to join Team Blake.
Just like the coaches fans too are completely smitten by Tommy's performance and showered him with praises. A fan wrote, "Great rock high voice. Love his cool rasp. He got chairs turned and well deserved." Another fan commented, "He is so good and the song fits his voice ! Love his tone very much ! He’s really good ! He has got a great voice !" "Tommy Edwards with the urgency. He knows how to ride the pocket and keep the energy up.This wasnt an audition, it was a full on performance," added a fan.
Some fans are already hailing him as a winner. A fan shared, "I bet anyone !! This guy will be in finals !!! He just need to find the good songs for his rock n roll voice !!" Another fan echoed similar thoughts with, "He sounds like a winner."
