WOODLAWN, MARYLAND: A shooting was reported early morning on July 13 at the Security Square Mall parking lot in Maryland. The incident happened a little after 9 am after two Baltimore Warrant Apprehension Task Force Officers faced a volley of bullets by a homicide suspect they were trying to arrest. All three were admitted to the hospital. The suspect was later declared dead. Baltimore Police have confirmed that the officers are in shock trauma.
Shooting incidents are at an all-time high in the country at the moment. On June 16, one person reportedly died and five others were critically injured after three or four suspects opened fire in the West Lexington area. On June 17, one man died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and two other victims were admitted to the hospital for gunshot wounds after a gunman opened fire near a convenience store in Durham, North Carolina. A similar incident took place in Austin, Texas when public transport employee Samuel Cassidy opened fire on his own co-workers before pulling the trigger on himself.

"Commissioner Harrison and PIO are responded to shock trauma after a shooting involving two WATF Officers. Media Staging area West Lombard and Penn Street," read an update by Baltimore Police on Twitter. Baltimore County Police tweeted out the latest update about the condition of the injured officers at around 10 am. "The officers have non-life-threatening injuries. #Baltimore City will be addressing the media at W. Lombard and Penn. There is still an active scene in #Baltimore County," the tweet read.

Who was the Security Square Mall shooting suspect?
According to reports, it was a homicide suspect that the police officers were trying to arrest. As soon as they began approaching him, the suspect opened fire at the officers. Images from the scene show a vehicle riddled with bullet holes in the driver's seat window and windshield, according to an article citing a 7NewsDC report. It was unclear if there were any more suspects in this case. The area where the shooting transpired was taped off by the police for further investigation.
While the name of the suspect has not been released by authorities, Baltimore County Police tweeted that the suspect is dead.
