PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Aaron Lieberman, who previously served as an Arizona State Representative and is now the founder and CEO of Buzze, announced the launch of a pioneering mobile app aimed at electric vehicle (EV) drivers.
This app, focusing on EV charging technology, is designed to help users save money when charging their vehicles. The official launch of this innovative app took place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Buzze is aiming to build a peer-to-peer shared network of home electric charging stations.
The Buzze app claims to bring convenience and cost benefits to electric vehicle owners in the Valley.
According to energy.gov, the average cost of charging an electric vehicle at home is around $60 per month. Public chargers are often more expensive.
Buzze aspires to be the 'Airbnb' of electric vehicle charging where app users can select level two charging systems from a map of nearby hosts.
What did Buzze CEO say about the company?
Buzze is a startup headquartered in Arizona that is committed to promoting sustainable transportation through the encouragement of electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
Buzze's overarching goal is to drive the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable mode of transportation.
Buzze Founder and CEO Aaron Lieberman said, "Anyone who has driven an EV knows these are awesome cars, and much cheaper to operate than their gas counterparts."
"But if we don't address the needs of the charging challenged, 40% of the potential buyers will be cut out of the EV revolution. Buzze solves this issue, and our mission is to create a neighborhood network of EV chargers to help get one million EVs to the road. When we do so, we will have helped remove 4.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from the air per year." he explained.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said, “Just this week, the City of Phoenix was awarded the EV City Award by Plug In America. So we are thrilled that a hometown company like Buzze is launching its innovative model in Phoenix first. I am excited about Buzze's focus on providing more charging options to renters and apartment dwellers, helping to meet the need while we work to expand the network of public chargers."
Unfortunately, 40% of Americans who pay rent for their homes and most of the 25% who live in apartments cannot afford the high installation costs of level 2 home chargers, which prevents them from accessing fast home charging.
To address this problem, Buzze provides affordable and dependable neighborhood charging in homes located near these "charging challenged" individuals.
What does the Buzze app do?
The Buzze app is designed to assist electric vehicle drivers in finding nearby level 2 charging stations.
With the app, drivers can quickly select a charging host from a map and schedule their next charging appointment.
On the day of the appointment, the driver will arrive at the host's location to charge their own vehicle. Through the car's telematics, the Buzze app can meter the charge and handle the payment process.
Buzze then bills the driver and compensates the host for the energy used, allowing them to earn additional income even if they are not at home.
This app launch will hopefully accelerate the transition toward sustainable transportation in the county, as well as the rest of the country.
Despite the availability of the Buzze app, people who rent, live in apartments, or reside in homes without charging facilities still face a lack of access to fast home charging.
To address this issue, the Buzze app opens up homes with charging availability to more Arizonans.
To promote EV adoption, Buzze is offering free charging at all of its hosts across the Valley until November 15.
