Stacy Davis Gates: Chicago teachers union chief slammed for sending son to private school after calling it 'fascist'
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Stacy Davis-Gates, the President of the Chicago Teachers Union, has been an outspoken critic of private schools, often using terms like "fascist" and "racist" to describe them.
However, it has come to light that she sends her son to one.
In 2022, Davis-Gates gave a statement, saying, "I'm also a mother. My children go to Chicago Public Schools. These are the things that legitimize my space within the coalition. I can’t advocate on behalf of public education without it taking root in my own household."

However, despite her prior statements about her children attending public schools, it has been revealed that one of her sons is enrolled in the prestigious private Catholic school, De La Salle Institute, located on Chicago's south side, where the average tuition stands at approximately $14,750 per year.

Why is Stacy Davis-Gates enrolling her son in a private school?
When critics accused her of hypocrisy, Davis-Gates defended her decision by stating that she was acting in the best interests of her 14-year-old son, as the public schools in her neighborhood were of poor quality, as per Daily Mail.
She clarified that she was "forced" to enroll her son Kevin in a private school due to his aspirations of becoming a soccer player, requiring him to attend a private school to pursue his dream while receiving a curriculum that catered to his social and emotional needs.
