ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Reed Timmer is a popular ‘storm chaser’ and is known for his daring coverage in extreme weather conditions.

Presently, he is associated with Accuweather and is covering Hurricane Idalia on the ground.

It is now being called a Category 3 storm as it reaches Georgia from northern Florida.

At what speed is Hurricane Idalia headed?

Hurricane Idalia is lashing the Southeast with heavy rain and maintaining winds of 85 mph.

As per reports, President Joe Biden is keeping track of all the developments and was briefed this morning, August 30. He will be making remarks on the storm, too, in a few hours.

What did the Federal administration say on Hurricane Idalia?

“The Biden administration has mobilized more than 1,500 federal personnel and more than 540 urban search and rescue team personnel who are on the ground, as per the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“The US Coast Guard is supporting search and rescue, and there are three disaster survivor assistance teams deployed in Florida.”

FEMA further added, “There are critical supplies including 1.3 million meals and 1.6 million liters of water ‘“available pending requests from the states.’”

“The US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services has also approved early issuance of September SNAP benefits for households receiving benefits,” it added.

What did Georgia governor Brian Kemp say to the people?

Georgia governor asked people to be prepared as Hurricane Idalia enters their state.

“It's a dangerous storm, people need to prepare, they need to be ready when it is coming through,” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said at a news conference at the state emergency operations center in Atlanta on Wednesday.

He added that as per his office, there have been reports of trees being uprooted and power outages in the southern part of the state, as per CNN.

“In the wake of Hurricane Idalia making landfall in Florida, the National Guard has been helping with search and rescue efforts and damage assessments on Wednesday,” according to Florida Adjutant General Major General John D Haas.

“At the same time, Maryland, Tennessee, and Colorado are on stand by in case we need additional air assets," Haas said.

“The National Guard is fully mobilized with about 5,500 members activated, including airmen supporting the response," Haas continued.

“Florida is also getting equipment and other assistance from other states,” Haas further said.

“This includes truck companies from South Carolina and Tennessee and three helicopters from Kentucky,” he added.

Many people reacted to Reed Timmer's video sharing on the storm. "I have and you do not want to see one in person especially if it looks like it is standing still. But, for info, Reed Timmer is awesome. My bro in law lives in Yuma (CO), so I was watching this one very closely. They terrify me," one user commented.

Another said, "Dramatic video captured by Reed Timmer reveals the devastating destruction of a condominium complex in Cedar Key, Florida."
