The family hasn't heard from her since January 31
Schwartz's family told Fox News they haven't heard from her since. As per the outlet, Hernando County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from Rachels's relatives and the father of her children, who is not the same as her ex that Rachel was afraid of. Elizabeth Schrupp, her sister, is appealing through social media for clues about her missing sister. "I’m creating this post to create some noise," she wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday, February 11.
'She wanted to come home'
"My sister has been missing since Tuesday, January 31. She was supposed to fly home on Saturday, February 4. Her last message to my dad was that she wanted to come home and that she was afraid of her ex," she wrote in the post.
Elizabeth revealed, "The same day her phone and social media account went silent." She added, "We’ve contacted the Hernando county police department in Florida. We are working with our local police department to get a local agency assist report in Florida since they will not report her missing. Police have conducted welfare checks on her ex-boyfriend’s home- one with no answer and one after she had been missing for almost a week."
Rachel Schwartz' rocky relationship with ex-boyfriend
Schwartz had a rocky on-and-off relationship with her ex-boyfriend John Scorah, according to her brother-in-law, and had recently told her father that she was afraid of him, as per a report. Court records seen by FOX show that police charged Scorah with battery in April 2022. Schwartz posted his bond and prosecutors dropped the case in October.
Schwartz, however, made the decision to return to her native Minnesota to avoid him, according to Schrupp. Additionally, he gave screenshots of texts he claimed she and a friend exchanged last year, showing her worrying about her safety and bringing up an order of protection.
In January, however, she returned to Florida to visit her two sons who live with their father, he said. She paid Scorah a visit at his Wimauma house at sometime during the Florida trip, according to Schrupp. She was seen leaving the residence carrying luggage on Tuesday, January 31 at 5.46 pm on ring camera video. "Two ring camera footages dated Jan 31st. Two different outfits- something to look out for," Elizabeth wrote in an update to her already-published Facebook post.
Schwartz is described as 5 feet, 2 inches tall with blue eyes and blonde hair, and weighing around 100 pounds. She has visible freckles when not wearing makeup, often wears hats or big sunglasses and may wear her hair in a military braid.
She was last seen wearing blue pants, a white sleeveless shirt, and was carrying a large black suitcase and an orange and black carry-on bag. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at 352-754-6830.
