Who is Pedro Vilarva? Ex-boyfriend claims George Santos only cared about 'fame and power'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Disgraced George Santos is facing strong pressure to quit as New York’s 3rd congressional district representative after multiple allegations of faking his resume to get the job made headlines. Currently, his alleged ex-boyfriend has come out and talked about his ‘obsession for fame and power’ at any cost. Talking with CNN, Pedro Vilarva, said that he doesn’t think that the 34-year-old lawmaker will step down from his current position until kicked out. : "I don't think so. His ego is too big and too high, he's not gonna resign. If they don't find something to get him [out], he's not going to do it. That's for sure,” he said.
He further added, "What he always looked for was fame and power". "That's all he cared about, and he got it. He got the fame of the lies and he got the power that he's in Congress now. But … he shouldn't be there," he claimed. Vilarva shared a photograph of him with Santos’ mother and told the media outlet that the family had never said anything about 9/11, another claim which has been found ‘not true’ by the Washington Post article. He said he assumes it’s a lie “because I never saw him working." The Post published Immigration records, which showed that Santos’ mother Fatima Devolder during the 9/11 attacks, was residing in her home country, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Apparently, Santos was also attacked for lying that he is a Jew and mentioning in his work portfolio as an ex-employee of Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. He also claimed to have studied at Baruch College, attended New York University, and received an MBA. However, he later admitted that he didn’t go to any college. "I'm sorry. I didn't graduate from any institution of higher learning. I'm embarrassed and sorry for having embellished my resume. I own up to that ... we do stupid things in life,” Santos confessed, as per People.
Daniel Goldman, a fellow New York Representative tweeted about Santos’ and wrote, "George Santos, by his own admission, is an outright fraud. The House has an obligation to police itself and maintain the integrity of the institution," On lying about being Jew, he said, "I never claimed to be Jewish. I am Catholic. Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background I said I was 'Jew-ish.'" The House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy maintains that George Santos is a legally elected member, and he can’t be fired until found guilty of breaking the law. The 34-year-old is being currently investigated by local and federal authorities.
