Candace Owens has filed a police report against a Democratic Party member after he sent her a picture of a Ku Klux Klan hood on Twitter. The incident started when Owens tweeted about the rising violence against Asian Americans and how the blame rested on Black Americans.

Owens, on Tuesday, tweeted, “The #1 violent offenders against black people are other black people. The #1 violent offenders against Asian Americans are also black people. But both #BlackLivesMatter and #AsianLivesMatter are campaigns dedicated to stomping out white supremacy because, clown world.”

Liam O’Mara, who ran and lost in the November 2020 congressional election in California’s 42nd district, sent a picture of a KKK hood to Owens in a tweet, along with the message “Yikes. You may’ve dropped this.” O’Mara’s point may have been to critique Owens’ statement about white supremacy. But the Black conservative commentator found it racist.

Owens claimed that she had filed a police complaint. She wrote on Twitter: “Just got off the phone with the Riverside County Sheriff Department. Guess who is filing a police report against you for your little klansmen act that you keep defending? I am DONE with you racist Democrats thinking you can do and say whatever you want to black conservatives.” She added, “Might not be a crime on Twitter but guess what?! It’s a crime in the real world. @TwitterSafety you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing this to fly.”

She also said, “The police will explain to you why you can’t send klansmen hoods to black people. I just completed the police report locally which will be transferred to Riverside county. I did this on behalf of black conservatives everywhere who are sick and tired of unchecked racist Democrats.” Owens further wrote, “How do we feel about Democrats sending photos of Ku Klux Klan hoods to black conservatives as an insult because I’m pretty sure — as my grandfather is still alive and breathing and suffered the REAL klansmen in his youth — that this is RACIST and you are a PIG for sending this.”

Who is Liam O'Mara?

O’Mara lost California’s 42nd district to the Republican candidate Ken Calvert. While Calvert secured 210,274 votes (57.1 percent), O'Mara got 157,773 votes (42.9 percent). As per Ballotpedia, O'Mara was born in Bellflower, California. He earned a bachelor's degree from Chapman University in 2006 and a master's and PhD from the Univerity of California, Irvine, in 2008 and 2017, respectively.

O’Mara has since deleted his Twitter account. This, despite the fact that Twitter — as per Owens’ own account — did not find the tweet in violation of its community guidelines.

O’Mara’s website — liamomara.org — does not also contain any information about the Democrat anymore. While the website still exists, it is unclear if he removed all the details from the website in the aftermath of his online spat with Owens. His Facebook page has been deactivated as well. Only his YouTube account remains active that has a video as new as one-day-old still available on it.
