The suspect in the shooting was identified as 27-year-old Larry Bollin of Grimes County. Police and DPS officials say Bollin was taken into custody in Bedias, however, could not rule out whether another suspect was involved in the shooting. It was also revealed that as of now, the suspect's motive hasn't been identified.
Buske also informed that the suspect who is an employee of Kent Moore Cabinets had used a handgun in the shooting. Witnesses said that the shooting seemed targeted according to reports. Once the police had arrived the store did not go under lockdown as the suspect had fled the scene by then. However, the employees who were present have since been interrogated. Bollin had been at large for a while before he was captured by the cops.
The police are also working on a phone line currently which would help the families of the Kent Moore employees get updates regarding the incident. As of this moment though, most of the employees have been allowed to leave the facility.
Buske was also asked about a growing number of mass shootings but he said this was unprecedented in Bryan, "This is the first incident like this in the city that I’m aware of." He also said that it was pertinent to address mental illness in the community to curb it.
Kent Moore Cabinets also gave a statement in which they said, "We are devastated by the events today at our Bryan manufacturing facility located on Stone City Drive. Our hearts go out to the families and the loved ones of those affected. We want to thank the many members of our law enforcement teams and other emergency personnel who responded so quickly. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement during the investigation of this horrible crime. We ask that you respect the privacy of the family members of those who were involved. Right now, our focus is on providing support to and prayers for our employees and the extended Kent Moore Cabinets family during this tragic time."
Speaking of the victims, Buske said one person died at the scene and four were transported to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan in critical condition. One additional person was transported to the hospital for a non-critical condition and a seventh additional person was sent to the hospital after an asthma attack.
