LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: 'Unlocked: A Jail Experiment' star Eric Higgins has been lead sheriff at Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. He was been working in the police department since 1984. He started his career with the Little Rock Police Department and served there for 30 years. He retired in 2015 as Assistant Chief of Police.
According to his profile, Sheriff Higgins pursued a BS in Multidisciplinary Studies, Government and Business and an MA in Human Services, Executive Leadership and Counseling from Liberty University. He has volunteered in multiple programs and served on the Governing Board of Lisa Academy.
Additionally, Sheriff Higgins was an eminent personality in establishing the OK ('Our Kids') Program for African American boys in Little Rock. The Netflix show Sheriff is also a licensed minister and is soon to star in Netflix's upcoming social experiment docuseries. The sheriff would implement a six-week jail experiment which gives the inmates more freedom to take their own and other prisoners' responsibilities.
The newfound freedom would bring a chaotic power struggle between the inmates struggling to control how the unit should run. However, some of the inmates would choose to maintain order and rebuild their lives with newfound freedom, meanwhile, the other prisoners seize the chance to disregard authority and indulge in illicit behaviour.

'Unlocked: A Jail Experiment' Sheriff Eric Higgins has been married to Caron for 29 years. Sheriff Higgins also shares two daughters with his wife Caron. Higgins shared a few social media posts with his wife thanking her for being supportive of his journey.
Sheriff Higgins took to his Facebook and reflected on the support of his wife as he was running for Pulaski County Sheriff in 2018. He also shared a sweet photo of his 'beautiful' wife on Mother's day and claimed, "Our daughters are truly blessed to have you as their mother. I am forever in love with you!"
Sheriff Eric Higgins defends filming Netflix show inside jail
Netflix's Sheriff Eric Higgins recently sparked a stir on the internet as critics question his decision to allow the cameras inside the jail. According to the reports, Higgins defended his decision and claimed that he asked the county attorney if the sheriff's department could agree to the 6-week recording after Lucky 8 TV, Inc. approached him in 2021.
Pulaski County Sherriff Higgins shared, "'Do I have the authority to allow a camera crew to come into the facility?' And the answer was yes." 'Unlocked: A Jail Experiment' star further noted, "As a sheriff, you run the jail, you control who goes in and out of that jail. And if you want to have them come in, you can do that."
Higgins elaborated, "One of the things we are looking at is can we convert this facility into an indirect supervision." According to the reports, the county sheriff's department would get paid $1000 per day to film the Netflix show which would go into a general county fund.
'Unlocked: A Jail Experiment' will premiere on Wednesday, April 10 on Netflix.
