MAUI, HAWAII: Since the onset of wildfires in Hawaii earlier this month, outlandish conspiracy theories involving 'space lasers' have proliferated across social media platforms. Now, the internet is questioning the veracity of a book published soon after the fires began. 

'Fire and Fury: The Story of the 2023 Maui Fire and its Implications for Climate Change', authored by Dr Miles Stones, has recently garnered significant attention. The curiosity is largely attributed to the fact that the book was published a mere two days after the fires started on August 8.

Remarkably, despite being only 44 pages long, the book has achieved 'bestseller' status within Amazon's Natural Disasters category. It is currently accessible in both Kindle and paperback formats.

Who is Dr Miles Stones? 

The book's description suggests it offers a somewhat concise and hastily presented examination of the disaster, which has claimed at least 111 lives so far. However, there exists minimal online information regarding Dr Miles Stones, the purported author. 

A namesake is listed on the GoodReads website, known for composing biographies about figures such as Hunter Biden and former US defense official Michael G Vickers.

Internet reacts to Miles Stones’ book with skepticism 

The remarkably swift turnaround of the book's publication and the scarcity of available details about Dr Stones on the internet has resulted in widespread skepticism about the true motivations behind the work.

One Twitter user wrote, "It seems this guy, Dr Miles Stones, cranked this out for climate change propaganda. Amazon cut off the reviews, he was getting destroyed."

Another noted, "Who is Dr.Miles Stones. This is fraud. Amazon is fronting propaganda on the Hawaii fires. I researched & found the same fraudulent name is listed on a sympathetic Chinese book about Hunter Biden Another book promotes Lozo Ball the basketball player. NBA is tethered to China !"

A skeptical tweet read, "Dr Miles Stones has published 17 books *this year* on Amazon. Ranging from seeing this future wildfire's "factual conclusion" to biographies on various Navy Seals, the Hunter Biden scandal, and even Lonzo Ball? Seems like a scammer generating premium content with AI."

Someone else asked, "Why is there already a book about the Maui Fires on Amazon? Published on August 10, 2023. It’s only 44 pages, and I guess it could be put together that quick, most likely garbage, but still kinda suspect to me… Reminded me of Q drop 500, Fire & Fury."
