Couch has played three games for the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). In 2013, he was delisted. Couch is a physical performance manager who works from Australia and lives in Florida. He trains Collins to be the best version of herself. In addition to girlfriend Collins, Couch has also been a trainer to Alex de Minaur and Jordan Thompson.
At the 2020 French Open, the couple made headlines as Collins wanted her beau to shift to a different spot in the middle of the match. It seemed like this American player was just taking out the frustration of her match. But later Collins cleared the air as she explained she only wanted a better view of her boyfriend and coach. She said, "I had my boyfriend move to a different spot because I was distracted by something in front of him. I just wanted to be able to look at him from a different location.”
Collins lost the quarterfinal match against Sofia Kenin owing to a cramp of the abdominal muscles. She again fell to the ground during a match against Daria Kasatkina which caused an issue of endometriosis. In April 2021, she underwent surgery for this and bounced back by winning two titles. The first was at Palermo Open and the second at Silicon Valley Classic.
