'Charcoal,' a female Ukrainian sniper, who goes by the name 'Ugoliok' in Ukraine has been praised as a national hero after joining the front line with her comrades to fight against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The sniper joined the Ukrainian marines in 2017 and has since engaged pro-Russian separatists in the eastern Ukrainian cities of Donetsk and Luhansk.

Despite the fact that her actual identity is unknown, she has become a symbol of valiant Ukrainian resistance against Russian invaders. According to The Times, she offered a battle cry to Ukrainian forces on the front lines declaring, "We must take them all out. These people are not human beings. Even the fascists were not as vile as these orcs. We must defeat them."  It was reported that a skilled sniper is said to obtain roughly 5 to 6 kills each day, whereas a great sniper may get around 7 to 10 kills per day.  Although Charcoal left the service in January of this year, she was back in the ranks of Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradsky's 35th infantry unit within a month. Charcoal has sworn to battle Putin's invaders 'to the very end.'

The sniper has been compared to another famed Ukrainian sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, nicknamed 'Lady Death' for killing 309 Nazis during WWII. Pavlichenko is widely regarded as the most successful female sniper in history. Her performance earned her not only a trip from the front lines to visit all three Allied leaders - Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin – but also the ‘Hero of the Soviet Union’, her country's highest honor. She was honored on postage stamps that were released after the war, and a feature film about her was released in 2015.

Earlier, a Canadian sniper considered one of the world's deadliest snipers joined the Ukrainian side to fight against Russia. Wali, a professional sniper, responded to President Volodymyr Zelensky's call for foreign volunteers. Between 2009 and 2011, the 40-year-old was sent twice to Afghanistan as a sniper with the Canadian military. Wali had already gone to Iraq on his own in 2015 to combat ISIS. The feared marksman claims he can kill at a range of 1,531 yards using a $6,600 military-grade .338 sniper rifle.

Meanwhile, after being abandoned on the battlefield, a female Russian sniper with 40 kills was apprehended. After being injured in a battle with Ukrainian soldiers, Irina Starikova — whose call sign is 'Bagira' — and from the 11th Specialized Special Operations Division is claimed to have informed her captors she was left to die by her own division.
