Who is Bill Thompson? Prosecutor sighting at University of Idaho murder home sparks rumors of suspect
MOSCOW, IDAHO: Latah County Prosecutor Attorney Bill Thompson was spotted at Moscow police headquarters Thursday, November 24, during the thanksgiving holiday as police continued their search for the killer of the University of Idaho students killer.
According to Fox News, the prosecutor arrived at the headquarters around 2 pm. Then the FBI and other police officers intensified their search for the suspect who killed the four students at the university. Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found dead and attacked in their sleep on November 13. However, social media believe there should be some major twist in the investigation upon his visit.

Meanwhile, the communication director of Idaho State Police, Aaron Snell, stated, "He’s there daily. He continues to work through the holiday/weekend." He also added, "The DA has been present throughout as a resource," he said. "We continue to work after hours. The DA has been here daily," reported Fox News. Later, on Friday, November 25, Thompson was also seen inside the apartment with the case investigators.
The investigators walked to the hill as a first procedure and checked for evidence. Later, they entered the house by wearing protective covers on their shoes. "We worked through the holiday. This is a nonstop investigation and will continue moving forward," said Snell. The investigators, along with the prosecutor, were seen checking the upstairs bedroom as well.
"Detectives continue investigating and will collect evidence. The people that are working this case from all three agencies, they're the best, and the brightest, and they have the most up-to-date resources," stated Snell. He also added, "We're going to continue this investigation no matter what." "That's going to be putting together the various pieces and ultimately coming up with the suspect or suspects and then making that arrest. Whether or not that person is here on campus, in their room, online, or wherever in the community, we will make that arrest," he further stated.
Who is Bill Thompson?
According to the official website of Latah county, Idaho, Bill Thompson was a law graduate from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1980. He was elected as Latah County Prosecutor in 1992 after a practice of 12 years. From 1998 to 2003, he served as a member of the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association Board of Directors. Meanwhile, he served as its president from 1999 to 2002. Thompson has been a part of the Idaho Juvenile Justice Commission since 2002 and recently joined the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission’s Public Defense Subcommittee.
In 2017, he was honored with Idaho State Bar Professionalism Award. He was also awarded the Idaho Association of Counties’ H. Sydney Duncombe Award for Excellence in County Government in 2011. He served as Secretary and Treasurer, Vice President, and President of the Idaho Association of Counties Executive Committee. Thompson is also popular for his training and advice to elected officials, including ethics, new statutes, and case law, trial and investigation skills, interagency cooperation, and risk management.
