Amanda Sharp-Jefferson: Nevada mom drowns her 2 infants to sell body parts after watching film about organ harvesting
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Amanda Sharp-Jefferson allegedly killed one-year-old Rose Singleton and two-month-old Lily in her apartment, allegedly drowned her two babies in order to sell their body parts after she saw a film about organ harvesting. She had been charged with two counts of murder. The 26-year-old mother, however, was found incompetent to stand trial on Monday, December 28, Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
As per court records obtained by KVUU, District Judge Linda Bell has ordered Amanda to get treatment at a secure facility until she is deemed competent to stand trial. The judge said that one doctor had confirmed that Amanda was not competent while a second doctor was unable to determine whether or not she was competent after she declined to participate in an evaluation. Her arrest report had revealed that she claimed to the police that she had been set up by someone to make it look like she had killed her own children. She then also denied that the children were actually hers.
According to the Clark County coroner's office, Amanda's boyfriend Jaykwon Singleton who is the father of the two girls discovered his children laying dead in their Las Vegas home on November 6. When Singleton had arrived home from work, he found his two lifeless daughters placed one on top of the other in a baby swing. The Las Vegas police had responded to Singleton's 911 call where the two children were pronounced dead at the scene.
While on the 911 call, Singleton was overheard asking Amanda what had happened. The dispatcher heard him say, "What did you do?" he then said, "She drowned them… I feel like their mom drowned them or something." Singleton told the authorities that he then asked Amanda as to why the girls' bodies had been stacked on top of each other and she responded by 'shushing' him.
The arrest report reveals, "[Jefferson] kept shushing him and at one point, made a statement that their organs were worth a lot of money." The police report reveals that Amanda told the police that she "saw a movie where people made money on body parts after a person died."
Many social media users took to the comments on Facebook to express their shock at decision taken by the judges. One such user said, "How convenient for her that she's mentally unable to stand trial, yet was competent enough to know she could sell the babies organs."
Another shared, "So you mean to tell me she told the father she thought the girls organs were worth a lot and he didn't think that statement was alarming? Just sad." Yet another commented, "she's just trying to play the system. What a disgusting human being!"
Others chimed in saying that she was lying and were left outraged at Amanda's stance on the crimes. They left comments such as "WTF is wrong with people?" while another shared, "Wtfff wow this is sick."
