LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: A mother appeared before Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Karen Bennett-Haron on Tuesday morning, November 10, for allegedly murdering her two little daughters as she believed their organs were “worth a lot of money”. Amanda Sharp-Jefferson allegedly killed one-year-old Rose Singleton and two-month-old Lily in her apartment last week. She has been pressed with two counts of murder charges.

According to KVVU-TV, police were called to the address on Friday, November 6, by the victims’ father Jaykwon Singleton, after finding bodies of his daughters stacked on top of each other in a bassinet crib. On the 911 call, the devastated father was heard asking the girls’ mother what happened. “She drowned them...I feel like their mom drowned them or something,” Jaykwon told police on the phone. He told them that when he questioned the suspect why she kept the toddlers on top of each other, she did not say anything and “shushed” him.

The Daily Mail reported that Jaykwon went to check the girls and found them unresponsive and their bodies were cold. “[Sharp-Jefferson] kept shushing him and at one point, made a statement that their organs were worth a lot of money,” the arrest report said. The kids were pronounced dead at the scene by the first responders. As per Jaykwon’s account, his relationship with Sharp-Jefferson had been normal after they met in 2018. But a few weeks ago, the accused “started talking about the altar spirit world making allegations that he was cheating with his spirit wife.”

A day before the bodies were found, Jaykwon said to the police that he went to meet his grandmother as Sharp-Jefferson appeared “fine” and nothing seemed unusual. After police were informed about the incident, the suspect's family members got to know and they seemed angry with Sharp-Jefferson, reports stated. The accused was soon arrested and moved to the headquarters for her safety as investigators interrogated her, police said. The mother told investigators that she did not know Jaykwon and refused to have kids. She reportedly said to the police that she stayed alone in her apartment and when she woke up on November 6, found the victims in her living room who seemed to be dead.

Sharp-Jefferson told investigators that the little girls along with their toys, and their strollers were kept in her house by someone else. “Amanda described the children to be of a darker skin and one of the kids to have foam coming out of its mouth. Amanda noticed the children and instead of calling for help, she decided to take a shower because she ‘likes showers’,” the police report stated. It has been said that police are still probing the case to find the exact cause of death of the children, but Lieutenant Ray Spencer of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department said detectives had a “very good idea what the cause of injury is” for the elder kid. Though it’s still not clear if the mother has a mental health problem, Spencer said he “would definitely not rule that out at this point.”
