Who is Alisha Grauso? Journalist gets 'rape and death' threats after her tweet goes viral
Ever since Roe v Wade verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States, there has been a sense of uneasiness among people, especially women. Even though Independence Day is just around the corner, some people still feel that they are being told what to do and what not to do. However, things took a bizarre turn for an entertainment journalist who expressed her disappointment with where the country is headed.
Alisha Grauso, who works as a Features Editor for the highly popular entertainment news website Screenrant, received a lot of backlash for a thread on Twitter she did where she asked fellow Americans if they were in the mood to celebrate Independence Day this year. However, she soon started getting a lot of hate comments after FOX News took her tweet and blew it up online and on TV. It’s been 36 hours since FOX News showed her tweet on their platforms and Grauso claims that she is still being harassed for her tweet that was “metaphorical” and “non-literal”.

Taking it to Twitter, Grauso revealed that she has been receiving “rape & death threats” for her earlier and slammed FOX News to stir up an “unstable base”. She wrote, “It’s now been 36 hours of harassment, rape & death threats because Fox News took a tweet of mine that was clearly not literal and blew it up online & on TV to stir up an unstable base.”
But what did she exactly say in her earlier tweets? Let’s take a look at the entire matter.
Who is Alisha Grauso? Editor receives ‘rape’ threats for her ‘non-literal’ tweet
Alisha Grauso is one of the popular writers in the entertainment world and has a lot of experience in writing about movies, and TV shows. She studied in the Indiana University of Penn and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts. Meanwhile, Grauso did her master’s in English literature from The University of Dallas. The journalist has been working since 2011 and even though she started her professional journey as a professor, she soon found herself writing for several media houses.
Over the years, she has worked for outlets like Movie Pilot, LGBT Foundation, Forbes, Marvel, Film School Rejects, and Atom Tickets. Since December 2020, she has been working as Features Editor with Screenrant.
As far as the controversy is concerned, it all started with a tweet where she said that she is not in the mood to celebrate Independence Day, this time around. On July 2, Grauso wrote, “Any other fellow Americans not really in the mood to celebrate Independence Day this year? I sure don't feel like rah-rahing for this country right now.” However, it was the second tweet in this thread that made some people, especially people at FOX News, really uncomfortable.

My mood this year is more like what about if we burn this country to the goddamn ground, as a little treat?

As soon as she tweeted that, FOX News did a story on how Leftists don’t seem too inclined to celebrate Independence Day this year and used Alisha’s tweet as well. The article said that the aforementioned reply to Alisha’s own tweet was “much worse”. Grauso claimed that FOX News used her tweet to cater to its base. The writer also revealed that “rape & death” threats haven’t stopped since the article surfaced online. In her latest tweets, Grauso slammed the news outlet for training its base to “no longer recognize figurative, metaphorical, facetious, non-literal” stuff. She added, “They’ve trained them to take everything absolutely literally, at face value, and then to respond to those trigger words like bulls seeing a cape.”
It's now been 36 hours of harassment, rape & death threats because Fox News took a tweet of mine that was clearly not literal & blew it up online & on TV to stir up an unstable base. The threatening voicemail left at 9:30pm was a particular highlight. Extremely normal response.

But this is what Fox News does. They've trained their base to no longer recognize figurative, metaphorical, facetious, non-literal. They've trained them to take everything absolutely literally, at face value, and then to respond to those trigger words like bulls seeing a cape.

The journalist concluded by saying that FOX is “brainwashing” millions of people and unfortunately, no one is doing anything about it. “We can openly see, the damage that Rupert Murdoch & FOX are doing to this country. We can see the brainwashed millions. And we just, let them. We just let them.”
Understand I'm not saying any of this to elicit sympathy. I'm saying this because it boggles my MIND that we can see, we can openly SEE, the damage that Rupert Murdoch & Fox are doing to this country. We can see the brainwashed millions. And we just...let them. We just let them.
