Popstar Sinead O’Connor has been making headlines ever since her son, Shane O’Connor, was found dead after going missing earlier this week. Shane died by apparent suicide. O'Connor's management company confirmed the 17-year-old's death. "Regrettably, we can confirm that Sinead’s son Shane has indeed passed. We would politely ask that the utmost respect and compassion be observed at this most difficult time for Sinead and family," 67 Management said in a statement.

Police confirmed the boy's death. A spokesperson said in a statement, “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday, 7th January 2022, a Missing Person Appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down." Shane's exact cause of death has not been revealed.

Reportedly, Shane had been on suicide watch at a hospital in Dublin. In a series of tweets, O'Connor announced the death of her son on her personal Twitter feed. "My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace:," she wrote.

When Shane went missing on January 6, 2022, from Tallaght Hospital in Dublin, O'Connor accused the hospital of letting the teen "out of their grasp" while he was on suicide watch. Shane had been placed on suicide watch due to concerns over his mental health. He had attempted to kill himself on earlier occasions too. Shane, however, is not O'Connor's only son.

Who are Sinead O’Connor's husbands?

O'Connor has been married four times and is a mother to four children. The 'Nobody Compares 2 U' hitmaker shares her eldest son, 34-year-old Jake Reynolds, with music producer John Reynolds. Reynolds, whom O'Connor married in 1987, co-produced many of her albums, including 'Universal Mother'. The pair was from 1987 until 1991.

O'Connor welcomed her second child, 25-year-daughter Roisin, with Irish journalist John Waters. The pair, however, were never married. Waters suffered from alcohol addiction until 1989, which is when he gave it up completely. O'Connor and Waters were involved in a long custody battle at one point, following which O'Connor agreed o let Roisin live in Dublin with Waters.

After O'Connor and Waters went their separate ways, the popstar married British journalist Nick Sommerlad in 2001 in a secret ceremony in the summer of 2001. The two never had any children.

O'Connor had her third child, deceased Shane O'Connor, with Irish musician Donal Lunny in 2004. The couple called it quits shortly after Shane was born. O'Connor and Lunny never tied the knot.

Her fourth child is her 15-year-old son Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio, whom she shares with American businessman Frank Bonadio. The pair, who never married, called it quits in 2017, a year after Yeshua was born. The two reportedly remained friends.

O'Connor married her longtime friend and frequent collaborator Steve Cooney in July 2010. The duo split in 2011.

In 2011, O'Connor married Irish therapist Barry Herridge. However, their marriage lasted only for three weeks, and they lived together for just seven days. Although the two separated, they are believed to not have legally divorced.

In the year 2000, O'Connor revealed in an interview with American magazine Curve that she was a lesbian. "I'm a lesbian. I haven't been very open about that, and throughout most of my life I've gone out with blokes because I haven't necessarily been terribly comfortable about being a lesbian," she had told the publication. Soon after her confession, however, she had her second marriage to Nick Sommerlad.
