Philadelphia shooting victims: Gregory Jackson, Alexis Quinn and Kristopher Minners named
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: The victims of a recent mass shooting in Philadelphia have been identified as 34-year-old Gregory Jackson, 27-year-old Alexis Quinn and 22-year-old Kristopher Minners. Besides the dead, gunfire from several shooters injured at least 11 others at a popular South Street nightlife area.
Investigators said they believe one of the three people killed in the attack was involved in "a physical altercation" with another man. However, they did not specify which victim they were referring to. The tragedy took place when the two people opened fire. "At this time we believe one of the three deceased was a male involved in a physical altercation with another male that was potentially the genesis of the shooting," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said in a statement. "These individuals eventually began firing at one another, with both being struck, one fatally."

The shooting took place on South Street, a popular area of the city for tourism and nightlife. Police have claimed that although there was heavy police presence in the area before the shooting happened, it was too large an area to be covered effectively by the officers on duty.

Who are the victims?
Kristopher Minners, a second- and sixth-grade resident adviser at Girard College, a Philadelphia boarding school, was celebrating his birthday just before he died, NBC Philadelphia reported. Richard Perdomo, who knew Minners since he was young, said he was loved by the children he cared for. "This is going to crush them. This truly, truly hurts. What a waste. He had his whole life in front of him," Perdomo said, according to the New York Times.
Girard College said in a statement after Minners' death, "The Girard College community was shocked and saddened to learn that Kristopher Minners, a current Residential Advisor and former student, was killed in the tragic shooting on South St. in Philadelphia Saturday night. An innocent bystander, Kris had just turned 22 and was celebrating with family and friends. He attended Girard College until 9th grade and since January 2022 has worked in the residential program advising 6th and 2nd grade boys. Our hearts are broken for Kristopher and his family, and our thoughts are with everyone who was impacted by this appalling act of violence. I visited with Kris’ parents this morning and the College will continue to offer them every support."
"Kristopher was so proud to return to Girard and serve as a role model to the young boys in his care. He was doing an amazing job for us, even being named RA of the month in March. Kris was a vital member of our community, and his loss will be felt deeply," the college continued. "We have all seen too much violence in the news, but when it hits home like this it becomes so much more real. Girard College will continue to lend our voice in the conversation to enact meaningful gun reform."
