NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Charlie Javice, who is accused of defrauding JPMorgan Chase while selling her student loan assisting startup Frank to the banking giant, is the daughter of entrepreneur Didier Javice and a career-oriented mother Natalie Rosin.

Javice, who was arrested in April 2023, after first getting accused of fraud in January 2023, has sent the bank a subpoena through her attorney Alex Spiro for releasing documents that can aid in her defense, per Daily Mail.

Javice was accused by the JPMC in January of tricking them into paying $175 million for her startup by hugely inflating the number of clients.

Javice, the Forbes 30-under-30 winner of 2019, is accused of showing the number of customers for Frank to be 4.25 million while in reality, the bank claimed, she had only around 300,000.

Javice’s strong legal team, spearheaded by Spiro - who has previously represented the likes of Elon Musk and Jay-Z - is now accusing the bank of improperly using the financial institution’s attorney-client privilege to shield the documents which they believe can help in Javice’s defense.

A person familiar with the matter told DailyMail.com that Javice's lead attorney Spiro believes the subpoena could return key evidence for the defense, which has accused the bank of improperly using attorney-client privilege to shield records.

JPMorgan Chase has sued Charlie Javice along with her company’s Chief Growth Officer Olivier Amar in the Delaware federal court.

Charlie Javice’s attorneys accuse JPMC of having 'cherry-picked set of documents'

Spiro claimed during a hearing in July that the undisclosed communications between the JPMC executives may ultimately hold a key to proving that Javice did not act illegally, reported Daily Mail.

Spiro further claimed that the prosecutors were “just regurgitating” the claims the bank made in their suit. He also accused the prosecutors of failing to gather requisite evidence before bringing a case against Javice.

In October’s filing last month, Spiro even claimed that the prosecutors made the case based on JPMorgan's “cherry-picked set of documents” produced during the grand jury process.

The filing further accused the bank of making “demonstrably unfounded privilege assertions” to hide the documents that may help Javice.

The government prosecutors retaliated to Javice’s attorneys’ claims by saying, “In truth, those records are neither missing nor exculpatory,” and insisted that any records material has been presented to both the prosecution and defense.

While US District Judge Alvin K Hellerstein primarily dismissed Javice’s argument, the subpoena was acknowledged. The judge gave the bank a December 1 deadline to file a counter-motion opposing the subpoena.

A trial date of October 28, 2024 has also been set. Javice and Amar both pleaded not guilty when they were arrested in April. Currently, Javice is free on a $2 million personal recognizance bond.
