Whitney Houston and Robyn Crawford planned to ambush Wendy Williams after she revealed their relationship on air
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During the 1900s and 2000s, what Wendy Williams told about Whitney Houston’s relationship with her long-time friend and collaborator Robyn Crawford, has proven to be the truth. The author of the 2019 book 'A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston' and an intimate friend of Houston, Robyn Crawford is recently back in the limelight due to Houston's biopic that premiered on Netflix, 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' starring Naomi Ackie as Houston and Nafessa Williams as Crawford. The film is based on the book that not only confirmed the rumor of the duo being more than just friends but also details the musical sensation’s iconic journey.
While Robyn Crawford confirmed the relationship in 2019, Williams was hinting at it two decades ago. During that time, as Houston was happily married to Bobby Brown, the allegations of Houston’s having a lesbian relationship with Crawford were just dismissed as a rumor. After Houston's death in 2012, Crawford opened up about the hidden relationship in 2019.

‘We just wanted to see you face-to-face and have a chat’
In a 2019 interview with Wendy Williams in her self-titled show, Crawford discussed in detail her relationship with Houston and how the pair allegedly wanted to “confront” Wendy for her delving into their relationship. “A lot of things that you were saying - It was a long day's work, we get in the car, the radio was on, everyone lived by the radio back then,” shared Crawford before explaining, “We are in the car, and you are talking like you live with us. Like you're roommates with us. We are just sitting still and Whitney would say, "Who the [f***], who is she? Who is this woman? I don't even know what she looks like!”
Crawford further continued “We were gonna…,” before getting interrupted by a visibly perturbed Wendy who said, “You were gonna jump me?” Crawford continued to explain, “We didn't know what you looked like, and our plan was to go down to Hudson Street and squat like collies outside for you.”
When an agitated Wendy spoke again, “Robyn, I can't even fight! I would have run! Oh, my gosh!” the New York Times bestselling author replied, “We weren't gonna fight. We just wanted to see you face-to-face and have a chat.” To that the talk show host replied, “I'm frightened,” before continuing, “Oh my gosh, I dodged that bullet.”
Crawford concluded the segment by saying, “It was a lot. It was a lot, and with all that we were dealing with,” and added, “I mean, I'm sitting here, and now I know how Whitney felt all the time. All the time. No matter what she said, it just kept coming back, coming back,” reports Daily Mail.
‘That was a cumulative, fed-up Whitney Houston that I heard’
In a 2003 radio interview with Wendy, The 'Bodyguard’ star defended herself too. In an Instagram post that chronicles the infamous interview, snippets of heated exchange can be heard. Before ending the interview, Houston said to Wendy, “Watch what the f*ck you say!” After the conclusion of the interview, when Wendy requests her to come to the studio, Houston replies, “We’ll make a date. You call my machine, and I’ll call yours.”
While reminiscing about the interview, Crawford explained, "That was a cumulative, fed-up Whitney Houston that I heard,” before adding, "You had been talking about Whitney and myself for so long." To which Wendy replies, "Well, that's what I do," before saying the allegations were proven true nonetheless, reports The Things.
