Jared Kushner met Kanye West as they're 'friends', denies discussing Trump reelection or rapper's 2020 run
White House senior adviser Jared Kushner has addressed his recent meeting with 'Jesus is King' rapper Kanye West. Kushner told reporters that the two did not talk about any plan related to West running for president in order to let Kushner's father-in-law, Donald Trump win the re-election. "We had a general discussion, more about policy," Kushner shared.
He also added how he and Kanye "both happened to be in Colorado" last weekend and had got together as "he has some great ideas for what he'd like to see happen in the country. And that's why he has the candidacy that he's been doing."
POTUS Donald Trump and his team have denied any sort of collaboration with Kanye and his presidential campaign. Both Kushner and Kanye have described each other as "friends for years" and have worked together on several criminal justice issues.
As per USA Today, democrats have claimed that the latest meeting of Kanye and Kushner was the latest piece of evidence which proved that Trump's re-election team is helping the rapper get on as many state ballots as is possible. They believe the idea is that Kanye would be able to amass African-American voters away from Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Post his latest meeting with Kushner, Kanye had taken to Twitter to share, "I’m willing to do a live interview with the New York Times about my meeting with Jared where we discussed Dr Claude Anderson’s book Powernomics."
While speaking to Fox News, Kushner shared, "unlike others, I'm able to keep friendships across the aisle." He spoke to host Bret Baier and revealed, "Kanye has been a friend for ten years. He's a very very special person, he's a very successful music artist, he’s a very successful designer, he's been very successful in a lot of the things he has done."
Before the meeting had taken place, Kanye had sent Kushner a book on Black economic empowerment which the senior adviser had found 'absolutely phenomenal'. He had also distributed copies of the same across the White House "because I think there's a lot of inspiration we can get from it for President Trump's second term agenda."
Kushner had explained, "Kanye sent me a book about a month ago called 'PowerNomics' ... I read the book. It was absolutely phenomenal, it actually incorporated a lot of the things that President Trump has been doing."
We had earlier reported how Kanye had declined to go into details on his meeting with the first son-in-law in a follow-up interview but did "express anger about abortion rates among Black women" before saying that he "didn't reflexively support Democrats."
The 'Stronger' rapper had been camping with his family — wife Kim Kardashian West and their four children in Colorado — when he had flown to Telluride in order to meet Kushner and his wife and first daughter Ivanka Trump, according to a New York Times report.
Recently, POTUS Trump spoke of West's 2020 effort and revealed, "I like him. He’s always been very nice to me." Trump was asked whether he was aware or involved in any way to get West on the ballot, Trump had revealed, "No, not at all. I get along with him very well. I like him. I like his wife."
