Where is 'RJ Decker' filmed? Surprising shooting locations of Scott Speedmans's new crime show
Scott Speedman might have been a familiar resident of Seattle in 'Grey's Anatomy', but for the upcoming crime drama show 'RJ Decker', he is relocating to South Florida. The new ABC show recently premiered on Tuesday. Despite the Sunshine State being featured in all its glory, fans would be intrigued to learn that much of the principal photography took place in North Carolina, with additional scenes filmed in South Florida. 'RJ Decker' is based on the Carl Hiaasen novel 'Double Whammy' and stars Adelaide Clemens, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Bevin Bru, and Kevin Rankin, in addition to Speedman.
The show stars Speedman as a down-on-his-luck phtographer and ex-con who, "starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre, with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor — a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally … or his one-way ticket back to prison.” The filming locations of 'RJ Decker' are as follows:
1) New Hanover County, North Carolina
According to The News & Observer, much of 'RJ Decker' was primarily filmed across several locations scattered throughout New Hanover County in North Carolina. The cast and crew of the show were frequently spotted filming scenes at Suites On Market, located at 2828 Market Street in Wilmington. Apart from this, several residential houses in Shirley Road and Churchill Drive were utilized. The other businesses that were filmed for the ABC show include CC Grissom & Sons Inc. at 1802 Castle Street, Ly Nails at 5225 Sigmon Rd 150, the White Front Breakfast House at 1518 Market Street, and Julia’s Florist at 900 South Kerr Avenue.
In an interview with WWAY, Rankin commented, "Wilmington residents would like it. They would be able to see a lot of Wilmington in here, with a keen eye, that sort of thing." The New Hanover County Courthouse at 316 Princess Street, the Lake Forest Baptist Church at 1626 Lake Branch Drive, the Brooklyn Arts Center at 516 North 4th Street, and the Alton Lennon Federal Building at 2 Princess Street are some of the other locations in Wilmington that were filmed.
2) Miami, Florida
The production team went to Miami to film additional important scenes and reportedly gathered on a beach to shoot multiple outdoor scenes. They were also spotted earlier this year, in January, filming across West Palm Beach. The Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum at 300 North Dixie Highway and the Palm Beach County Courthouse at 205 North Dixie Highway were two other locations that were visited by the show's filming crew. 'RJ Decker' is exclusively available on ABC.
