'Station 19' Season 3 Episode 12: Pruitt's death breaks hearts and fans say it was 'great ending' for the hero
'Station 19' recorded another death and this time, it took the life of one of the central characters. Pruitt Herrera (Miguel Sandoval) died like a warrior with an ultimate sacrifice for his daughter Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz).
Titled 'I'll Be Seeing You', the episode ends on a heartbreaking note as Pruitt tells Maya: "Tell Andrea that every single thing I did her whole life, I did because I love her." Like a hero, Pruitt sacrifices his life for his fellow mates and that's just the most valiant act you would have ever seen on the show.
Fans can't stop sobbing after that heartbreaking end. "I've never cried so hard over a show," one posted and another wrote, "Thank you Captain Herrera for exiting a hero. Such a mind-blowing episode!! Andy got married and lost her Dad...wow! Heart-wrenching!!"
Another fan said, "This episode really made me sad. The ultimate sacrifice of a father."
Shockingly, for one viewer, it coincided with a major death in the family. "I’m so confused rn....Capt. Herrera just died and I just got the call from the hospital that my Grandma just passed away alone in pain.....At least Pruitt died the way he wanted.... with the only family he had around....I’m so depressed rn...#Station19," the tweet read.
Another said, "I haven't sobbed about TV in a long time but I let out audible sobs watching Capt Herrera fall through that roof & Andy realizing that it happened."
"That was a tough one to watch, but you wrote a great ending for Papa Herrera. You'll be missed Miguel. #Station19," one fan wrote and another posted, "That fall into the fire...that broke me. Mouth, heart, and tears all dropped.. RIP Capt. Pruitt Herrera."
A tweet read, "I’m literally balling my eyes out right now we will miss you Captain Herrera," while another said, "#station19 had me f**king sobbing for the last 20 minutes of the episode."
Meanwhile, a few fans pointed out at all the characters that were dying this season, "So just this season alone we’ve already lost Ryan, Rigo, and now Captain Herrera. W H Y #Station19," one wrote and another said, "WTH! Why does Andy have to keep suffering this season?! UGH I don't think I can watch anymore #station19."
Many others spewed hatred at Shonda Rhimes, like always. "I f**king hate Shonda Rhimes for doing Captain Herrera like that," a fan said. Another posted, "I just need someone to come hold me after watching that episode of Station 19!!!"
A fan went on to say, "Between @Station19 and @GreysABC tonight, I felt just about every emotion possible. #GreysAnatomy."
As the new episode rolls out on ABC next Thursday at 8 pm ET, it may shed light on how all the Station 19 firefighters will deal with the huge loss.
