Where was ‘Chad Powers’ filmed? Wander through stunning locations as Hulu greenlights season 2
Things got so bad for Russ Holliday that he had to forgo his own identity and roam around in disguise! That's what happens on the debut season of 'Chad Powers' on Hulu. The six-part comedy sports-comedy series stars 'Top Gun: Maverick' star Glen Powell in the titular role. Following the success of the debut season, the show has been picked up for a second instalment. Part of the reason why the show's humour works is the playful camaraderie between the character of Chad Powers and the other members of his team. Set against realistic backdrops, the series has raised curiosity in terms of its filming locations.
The majority of 'Chad Powers' was filmed across several locations in Athens, Georgia, and Metro Atlanta, as per a report by Travel Noire. The football stadium that constitutes the base for Powers' team, i.e., the South Georgia Catfish, was mounted at the Sanford Stadium, located in the vicinity of the University of Georgia at Athens. Extensive student habitats and similar locations were found at the Morehouse College campus where the cast and crew spent a significant amount of time. The dramatic scenes, including the exchanges at the locker room and other important dialogue scenes, were shot inside the sound stages at Conyers, Georgia, located at the outskirts of metropolitan Atlanta.
L'Chad Powers' begins and ends with the leading character of Russ Holliday. Once hailed as a promising football player, Holliday's career soon fell flat on its face, thus leaving him high and dry. In a bid to regain control of his life, Holliday transforms himself with prosthetics and makeup, also affecting a different accent. He gets a second shot at glory after becoming Chad Powers and joining the Southern Georgia Catfish. Towards the end of the sixth episode, Ricky discovers Powers' secret, and decides to keep it to herself, without letting the team members know.
Alongside Powell, the show's cast includes Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson, and Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny. The show is based on Eli Manning's segment 'Eli Presents', from Omaha Productions and ESPN. The segment saw Manning disguising himself with the help of prosthetics and getting on with the walk-on tryouts at Penn State's. Manning is associated with the Hulu show in the capacity of an executive producer and has also brought brother, the NFL star Peyton Manning, on board.
Powell had previously opened up about a potential sophomore season while speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He had said, "The reality is there’s a lot more story to be told. There was a construction early on for an arc of what the Catfish would look like. So we have a beginning, middle, and end in mind. But people have to tune in and show us they want to see it. We believe in this show. I believe we have a hit show here and one the world’s really going to love." 'Chad Powers' is available exclusively on Hulu.
