So-Fi Stadium: Inside Vax Live's $5.5B venue that can seat 100K and is home to LA Rams and Chargers
'VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World' is bringing some of the biggest celebrities of the world together as an initiative of Global Citizen's campaign to help medical professionals in the poorest countries receive Covid-19 vaccines. The pre-recorded concert took place in SoFi Stadium, an entertainment complex and a stadium situated in Inglewood, California, which was built at a cost of $5.5B.
SoFi Stadium is mostly known as the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). The 298 acres area also hosts LA Bowl and is scheduled to host Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, the College Football Playoff National Championship in January 2023 and WrestleMania 39 in April 2023. The stadium will also be the opening and closing ground for ceremonies in soccer and archery for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Home to LA Rams and Chargers
So-Fi stadium is currently used by two NFL teams. It is also known to be the fourth facility in the Los Angeles area which can host multiple teams from the same league as Staples Center is home to both of the city's National Basketball Association (NBA) teams, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers from 1999 to present. The stadium is also a crucial component of Hollywood Park, a "master-planned neighborhood" in development on the site of the former racetrack.
The design of So-Fi stadium
So-Fi Stadium, which was designed by HKS, comprised of the stadium plus a pedestrian plaza and a performance venue. The stadium, the adjacent pedestrian plaza and the attached performance venue are covered by a fixed translucent ETFE roof which also functions as a projector for screens. The displayed images can be seen from airplanes flying into LAX and is known to be supported independently apart from the stadium by a series of columns. The stadium bowl has both open sides and seats which can support around 70,240 spectators for most events, and can be expanded by 30,000 additional seats for larger events.
Vax Live performances
So-Fi stadium hosted the 'Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite the World' on May 2, which will be aired on ABC on May 8 at 8 pm ET/PT | 7 pm CT. The Global Citizen's campaign gathered some of the biggest philanthropists and celebrities to fight for equity, and to ensure that medical professionals in the world's poorest countries can quickly receive Covid-19 vaccines.
Pop queen Selena Gomez will be seen as the host of the night. Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin and HER will perform at the concert, which will have guest appearances by Prince Harry, Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, Jimmy Kimmel, Sean Penn and David Letterman. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will also be seen on screen with French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
