EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND: NBC Dateline is back with yet another interesting interview and will soon be opening up the case and talking to the suspect that boggled the minds of the citizens of the US. A mind-blowing case of identity crises and evasion by law enforcement agencies. No, this isn't the plot of a movie, but a real-time case that has been running for the past three years. The suspect is Nicholas Rossi, aka Arthur Knight, as he calls himself. Rossi is accused of being a United States fugitive who has been on the run by faking his own death and has fled to Scotland.

Nicholas Rossi aka Arthur Knight or the man with many names is an American sex offender who faked his own death in 2020. Earlier, Rossi said that he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and in the same year, a news outlet reported Rossi's death. But the twist happened when his death was disputed and was seen coming right after the FBI initiated a fraud investigation against him, while Rhode Island police had a warrant on him for failing to register as a sex offender. But there is more to Rossi's story than it seems on the surface.

Who is Nicholas Rossi?

According to the FBI, Nicholas Rossi faked his own death to escape the rape charges against him in the States and ran to Scotland under the pseudonym Arthur Knight, who claims that he has never been to the USA. In October 2021, Rossi was discovered in a hospital in Scotland, where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19. He was arrested in December of the same year on charges of an alleged rape in Utah in 2008, in addition to other crimes. There are efforts underway to bring him back to the States. In November last year, the Edinburgh Sheriff Court confirmed that the arrested man was, in fact, Nicholas Rossi, despite his claims of mistaken identity.

Growing up, Rossi, whose actual name is Nicholas Alahverdian, was diagnosed with behavioral and mental health issues. He was described as a "difficult kid" and always caused trouble. Soon enough, he was placed in psychiatric care and diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder and attention deficit disorder. With such a complicated history of mental illness and a life lived in a foster care agency, Rossi was later charged with rape, after which he faked his own death and his own funeral and became a US fugitive. In 2021, Alahverdian fled to Glasgow, Scotland. There, he made up stories that talked about working as a professor teaching at the University of Glasgow.

Where is Nicholas Rossi aka Arthur Knight now?

Now, NBC Dateline's Andrea Mead Canning, a Canadian-American journalist, will investigate the case and take the lead in interviewing Nicholas Rossi, aka Arthur Knight, and many others who have been on this case for the past three years, like Miranda Knight, former prosecutor David Leavitt, former Rhode Island State Rep Brian Coogan, Rhode Island State Police Detective Conor O’Donnell, Canadian television personality Nafsika Antypas, and more.

At the start of 2023, Rossi applied for bail, which was refused, and several other times throughout the year. Rossi is currently being held in Edinburgh's Saughton Prison with no chance of bail. Dateline’s all-new two-hour 'Dead Man Talking' airs exclusively on Friday, April 21 at 9 pm ET/8 pm CT. The Dateline interview will be the first-ever Network TV interview that Nicholas Rossi will be a part of. Tune in to understand more about Nicholas Rossi and a twisted case of faked death and a tunnel of lies.
