CINCINNATI, OHIO: Latoya wanted to spend time with her children again, therefore, the 10-pound monster between her legs had to go! Following her consultation with 'Botched Bariatrics' physicians Yasir Khan and Neilendu Kundu, she was able to resume her family life while simultaneously dreaming of a romantic one.

Following her recovery, Latoya shared an update with all TLC viewers, expressing that she felt revitalized and empowered. Thanks to the expertise of the 'Botched Bariatrics' physicians, she was able to resume her role as an active mother, with no restrictions on her mobility.

Who is Latoya in 'Botched Bariatrics'?

When Latoya made her TLC debut on Wednesday, May 15, she had a basketball-sized lump between her legs, weighing roughly 10 pounds. She referred to it as a "pendulum swinging away!"

"It's hard to keep upbeat sometimes," she murmured. Latoya has always been a happy little girl. Even in her twenties, she accomplished everything: securing her real estate license, exploring the world through travel, embracing her outgoing nature at gatherings, and immersing herself in parties and events. "I completely lived my life," Latoya told the TLC cameras.

When Latoya turned 31, the news of her pregnancy filled her with immense joy. Initially planning for a vaginal delivery, circumstances shifted when the baby resisted exiting through traditional means, prompting doctors to opt for a C-section for Latoya's safe delivery.

From that point onward, Latoya's health took a downward turn. During the C-section procedure, surgeons discovered nine hernias and a portion of her "bowels had died." "They said, I'm lucky to be alive with dead bowel inside of me. I was in surgery like 9 hours." Fortunately, her baby was unharmed, leaving her feeling immensely relieved and overjoyed.

Upon returning home, both the baby and the new mother embarked on their journey to recovery. However, Latoya couldn't help but notice that the promised reduction in swelling had not materialized as expected.

Postoperative swelling usually lasts 2–4 weeks (a message from TLC read). For nearly a decade, Latoya was misdiagnosed with water retention and promised that the swelling would go down. It never did.

Latoya first noticed the mass when she awoke one night in 2018. Despite her initial shock, she tried to carry on with her daily routine, hoping to push the issue aside.

Latoya was worried about going to another hospital because of her previous experiences, and she hoped that the mass would resolve itself. However, after she eventually consulted a doctor, she was told that her condition was not typical and that it was not water retention, but lymphedema.

Lymphedema is a swelling caused by injury to the lymph nodes. In Latoya's case, her condition likely stemmed from a botched hernia repair. The swelling was substantial, bulbous, almost resembling a rock in appearance

What happened to Latoya in 'Botched Bariatrics'?

When Latoya visited the 'Botched Bariatrics' physicians, they stated they'd never seen such a case in their entire practice. They addressed the situation head-on, but not without advising her to lose some weight beforehand.

Dr Khan and Kundu proceeded with the operation on Latoya, attempting to remove the lump without damaging any lymph nodes along the way. The task proved to be quite challenging for the duo, as the growth was situated between the lower portion of her abdomen and the upper region of her vagina.

During the procedure, the doctors uncovered a significant blood vessel that, if damaged, could potentially result in a loss of movement for Latoya. Fortunately, it was not the one that supplied blood to her legs.

After 9 months of preparation, doctors successfully removed a 9.8-pound lump from between Latoya's legs. After she woke up, doctors conducted tests to ensure proper blood flow to her legs. Once satisfied with her rehabilitation progress, Latoya was cleared to participate in a marathon.

Dr Khan informed Latoya that she has dropped a total of 200 pounds since the first time she entered the 'Botched Bariatrics' doctors' chamber in Ohio.
