Carlee Russell missing case

Earlier in July, the missing person case of Alabama woman Carlee Russell grabbed headlines. She had apparently disappeared after calling 911 to report a “baby boy in a diaper” walking along the Interstate. Two days after she was reported missing, Russell came back and said that she was kidnapped by a white man with “orange hair.”

While she initially cooperated with the police, she stopped helping them later. The detective for Hoover Police Department Nick Derzis said initially that they were unable to verify much of her story, per USA Today. Later, Derzis also read a statement from her that basically insinuated that she failed her own kidnapping. The statement prepared by her attorney said, “There was no kidnapping on Thursday, July 13." before adding, “Carlee again asks for your forgiveness and prayers.”

As per Daily Mail, she watched Liam Neeson’s ‘Taken’ to determine whether she qualified for a police "Amber Alert". She also searched for a oneway ticket to Nashville. Investigations are still going on to determine whether police will file criminal charges against her for her deception.
