Where is Alec Baldwin? Cops unsure of actor's whereabouts but say he's cooperating
Where's Alec Baldwin? That's the question on a lot of fans' minds, and apparently on the cops' minds as well. In an October 27 press conference, Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza acknowledged that he wasn't sure where Baldwin was but confirmed he was cooperating with the investigation into the shooting on the set of 'Rust'. Unusually, Baldwin was also not stopped from leaving New Mexico, Mendoza said.
The tragic death of Halyna Hutchins has opened a major can of worms for the production, with some truly shocking details emerging over the past few days. Recently, Veteran prop master Neal Zoromski confirmed he declined to work on 'Rust', citing safety concerns. He wasn't the only one. Ian Hudson, an actor in the film, also conceded that shooting on the film set felt "scary". More details are only expected to come out and could land the producers in major trouble.

Baldwin, one of the producers for the movie, is currently missing, having gone underground days after a memorial for Hutchins was held in Santa Fe. As we reported, Baldwin was snapped hugging Hutchins' widow and son on October 23. Since then, he's appeared to have completely disappeared from the public eye, just like the under-fire armorer Hannah Gutierrez.
Where is Alec Baldwin?
On October 23, the last time Baldwin was seen in public, a source confirmed the actor had canceled all his other projects to "to take some time to himself and re-center himself." It was believed he would be linking up with his family, but where exactly remains a big question. It was believed he may have decided to hole up in his Hamptons home, but Fox News reported that work on the property was ongoing. We know he isn't in New York after his wife and children were spotted leaving the town the day before.
So it seems like the Oscar nominee has truly gone underground. He's likely rented a property somewhere, or could even be staying with friends or family. We have no clue, just as the Santa Fe Sheriff has no clue. "I’m not exactly sure of his present whereabouts," Mendoza told reporters. But even if he's not in town, the Sheriff clearly stated Baldwin was "cooperating". So wherever he is, it seems like he's regularly in touch with the authorities.
That could prove to be important because District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies confirmed on October 26 that "Everything at this point, including criminal charges, is on the table." Right now, many people are wondering if Baldwin will face charges himself, both as producer and as the individual who held the gun. In response to that, Mendoza told reporters, "it is too early right now in the investigation to comment on charges." Altwies also weighed in on the speculation, saying, "The answer is we cannot answer that question yet until we complete a more thorough investigation."
Baldwin was reportedly "Inconsolable" and "hysterical" after the shooting, and photos from the day show him distraught and bent over outside the Sheriff's Office. His condition was slightly better when he met Hutchins' family, but one eyewitness described his appearance, saying his "body language was of a beaten man — he was slumped, he looked aged." Despite being unseen, Baldwin is still making his presence felt on social media.
On October 27, he retweeted a New York Times story about the shooting, his first activity on the platform since October 23, where he shared another story. The last time he was active on Instagram, he put out a statement on October 22 about his feelings and condolences for Hutchins' family.
