KBS said, "We will cancel this weekend's rerun. We will also edit out Ji Soo from Episodes 7 and 8 as much as possible and will begin re-filming Episode 9 with the new actor." They also said that they did not cancel the show considering the audiences who had shown love for the series so far. The network added, "We recognize the seriousness of the incident and considered all measures, including the cancellation of the drama, but we had to consider the viewers who showed love and support for the drama would be left with an incomplete drama despite the numerous staff, actors, and production companies who will be affected."

The network will not resume airing the show unless they have enough episodes in the reserve to air in the coming weeks. Hence, the show will not return this week and until the shoot resumes, fans will have to wait patiently to learn the direction of the show. Will Ji Soo's role be recast or will a new character be introduced in lieu of On Dal. Those are things that the network would need to consider closely and we will also have to see if audiences will continue to show interest in the show despite the scandal that surrounded it.

In the meantime, there is also speculation that Ji Soo will sign up to serve the mandatory time in the military that is required of all male individuals in South Korea.

'River Where the Moon Rises' usually airs every Monday and Tuesday on KBS and can be streamed on Viki in the US.
