'Nobody Wants This' Season 3 begins production as Noah and Joanne gear up to navigate new challenges
'Nobody Wants This,' starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody in lead roles, became the talk of the town when it premiered in 2024. The second season then arrived on Netflix in 2025, and both installments have spent a total of 12 weeks in the Netflix Global English TV Top 10, showcasing how invested the audience is in the show. The streaming platform shared some exciting news with fans on March 24 as it revealed that the show has kick-started production on its third season. The series will remain set in Los Angeles, and Season 3 is expected to be released later this year.
Netflix released pictures from the set featuring the cast and crew. The photos, taken by Bell using a disposable camera, show the cast looking cozy and spending time with each other behind the scenes. The caption reads, "We gave @kristenanniebell a disposable camera to capture the first week of shooting NOBODY WANTS THIS: SEASON 3!" The pictures reveal that Jackie Tohn, who plays Esther in the show, is no longer sporting bangs, and Timothy Simons, who portrays Sasha Roklov, is flaunting bleached-blond hair. These changes could mean that the audience is in for a time jump. The production schedule suggests that the third season will align with the timeline of the last two installments. Hence, Season 3 may release in the fall. However, the release date has not been confirmed yet.
All the series regulars are expected to return for the third installment. Creator Erin Foster told Netflix in 2025, “I couldn’t be more excited to head into a third season of this show.” She added, “It is a privilege to be able to write about my favorite couple on a scale like this.” Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan serve as both showrunners and executive producers of the show. Other executive producers on board are Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk, Nora Silver, Steven Levitan, Jeff Morton, Kristen Bell, and Oly Obst.
Season 1 followed Brody's Noah, an unconventional rabbi, and Bell's Joanne, an agnostic podcast host, as they explored their relationship despite differing outlooks and backgrounds. Through it all, a colorful ensemble featuring their messy but well-meaning families kept both the couple and viewers on their toes with their antics. Season 2 ended with the couple taking a massive step toward solidifying their future, with Joanne coming around to the idea of converting to Judaism. Season 3 will possibly showcase the next chapter in this intriguing but adorable relationship.
