LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It was 'Elvis Night' on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and now we're on to another icon. The third episode of 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 31 will have the theme 'Bond Night', according to Disney.

For Week 3 of the mirrorball competition, the 14 remaining couples will perform dances to legendary songs from the 'James Bond series' in honor of the 60th anniversary of the spy on the silver screen. 'Bond Night' will begin with a special professional rendition of 'Live and Let Die' by Paul McCartney and Wings. Megan Lawson and Matt Cady choreographed the routine. The show is hosted by Tyra Banks and actor and television personality Alfonso Ribeiro, with a panel of famous ballroom experts Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman on the judges' panel.

What happened on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 31, Episode 2?

The September 26 episode began with a rowdy professional rendition of Elvis' 'Don't Be Cruel', which was followed by a run of performances of the late crooner's biggest singles from three eras of his career: the early years, Elvis in Hollywood, and Elvis during his Las Vegas concert heyday. The show stated only hours before the episode aired live on Disney+ that Joseph Baena's partner, Danielle Karagach, had tested positive for Covid-19 overnight. "She is completely asymptomatic and is self-quarantining. Everyone who has been in close contact with her has tested negative," a rep said, adding, "Dance troupe member Alexis Warr will step in and dance with Joseph in Daniella’s place tonight. Following our strict protocols, those considered close contacts to Daniella will be masked on tonight’s show.”

The dance commenced after the audience was updated on their Covid regulations and a brief history of the rock and roll legend. Judges Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, Len Goodman, and Carrie Ann Inaba wanted to see notes applied and significant progress in week two. Alan Bersten and Jessie James Decker took the stage first to sing 'Trouble', proving that accepting direction from the judges was no problem at all, garnering praise for their rapid progress from previous week's debut. After Jessie was Brandon Armstrong and Jordin Sparks, Cheryl Burke and Sam Champion, Gleb Savchenko and Shangela, Pasha Pashkov (wearing a mask, as he’s married to Daniella Karagach) and Teresa Giudice, Britt Stewart (with CODA co-stars Troy Kotsur and Marlee Matlin in the audience) and Daniel Durant, and Val Chmerkovskiy and Gabby Windey. Koko Iwasaki and Vinny Guadagnino, Mark Ballas and Charli D’Amelio, and Sasha Farber and Selma Blair (visited by 'Cruel Intentions' co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar in the audience) came next, with the final lineup being Louis Van Amstel and Cheryl Ladd, Alexis Warr and Joseph Baena, Artem Chigvintsev and Heidi D’Amelio, Emma Slater and Trevor Donovan, and Witney Carson and Wayne Brady.

Britt and Daniel's jive was one of the night's highlights. The hearing impaired actor admitted that training week was difficult due to the quick tempo of the dance, but he exuded charisma and didn't miss a single beat during the live event, impressing the judges. Gabby's opening package after that performance showed her fiancé, Erich Schwer, assisting in the studio for her performance of 'Can't Help Falling in Love'. Erich waltzed onto the stage at the end of the dance to congratulate her.

Vinny's second performance earned him the title of "contender" for those who truly needed to improve. He improved by a whopping ten points from the previous week. Trevor and Emma's score increased by nine points. Even those with the lowest scores, all the competitors either equaled or improved on their Week 1 scores. However, it didn't mean they stayed on top of the leaderboards.

With 32/40, Charli, Gabby, and Wayne tied for first place. Despite echoing their score from Week 1, Louis and Cheryl's 21/40 placed them last on the leaderboard, after Pasha and Teresa's 23/40. After the fan-voted, Louis and Cheryl and Pasha and Teresa were in the bottom two, and it was up to the judges to save one pair. In the end, there was a tie, with head judge Len counting two votes. Pasha and Teresa were eliminated as a result.
