Michelle Pfeiffer takes center stage in grief-driven ‘The Madison’ trailer and we're completely floored
Taylor Sheridan's latest is sure to make fans bring out the tissues. 'The Madison,' starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, saw its trailer release earlier on Tuesday and promises to be an emotional affair. The Paramount+ drama has already filmed its second season. Initially seen as a spin-off of 'Yellowstone', Paramount+ clarified that the six-episode debut season will be a standalone drama tackling themes of grief and resilience. The streamer also noted that this was Sheridan's most 'intimate work to date.'
The trailer introduces fans to the Montana family, the Clyburns, played by Pfeiffer, Russell, and Beau Garrett. The pacing and narration make it clear this is a story of loss and grief, as matriarch Stacy Clyburn (Pfeiffer) seeks to lead herself and be a source of strength for the family after a grave loss. Pfeiffer stars as a grief-stricken woman attempting to piece her life back together after a tragedy, which, while not explicitly shown, seems to be the death of her husband (Russell). 'The Madison' is set to release on March 14 with three episodes. The remaining three episodes drop on March 21. The clip also shows Russell's approach to life and the impact it leaves on his partner and family.
The cast includes Elle Chapman as Paige McIntosh, Patrick J. Adams as her husband, Russell McIntosh, and Garrett as Abigail Reese, a New York mother of two who is recently divorced. Amiah Miller will play Abigail’s oldest daughter, Brigitte, to round up the cast. The official logline reads, "The Madison unfolds across two distinct worlds: the beautiful landscape of Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan as it examines the ties that bind families together."
Sheridan, David C.; Glasser, John; Linson, Art; Linson, Ron; Burkle, David; Hutkin, Bob; Yari, Christina; Alexandra Voros, Michael; Friedman, Pfeiffer; Russell, and Keith Coxs serve as executive producers, while Voros directs all six episodes of season 1.
Earlier, Russell shed light on the upcoming show. "I was very happy about that, because I really like what The Madison is. It’s a smart show," he told Entertainment Weekly. "He's a really good writer — Taylor's excellent, and Michelle's great, and she's really great in this show. Talking about awards — I think they're going to be looking Michelle's way." He further added, "And I think that it's a very different show for Taylor in that it's a very female-gaze-oriented show. And I think it's extremely well written; it was fun to play. It was really fun to do. I just had a good time."
Meanwhile, other shows from Sheridan include 'Marshals', the first spinoff of 'Yellowstone'. The series follows Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton, who joins a group of US Marshals after the death of his wife. The show premieres on March 1. Other shows from the in-demand creator include Sylvester Stallone-led 'Tulsa King' and a spin-off of the show with 'NOLA King' starring Samuel L. Jackson. Jeremy Renner's Mayor of Kingstown,' 'Lioness,' and 'Landman' add to the roster of shows.
'The Madison' premieres March 14 on Paramount+.
