After Joe Rogan was called out for using the N-word, people have started questioning Howard Stern for not just using the word but also donning blackface. TMZ labeled this as a case of whataboutism. As per Google, whataboutism is a "technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counter-accusation or raising a different issue." But these users believe that this is a clear case of "selective targeting" and "hypocrisy".

After Rogan apologized for using the N-word and for spreading misinformation through his podcast series, users have been quick to compare it to Howard Stern's past behavior. Users are questioning others in Hollywood who have also used the N-word, including Stern who did so on his old show. People are slamming him for donning a "blackface" and labeling him a "racist".

A user tweeted, "Howard Stern’s black face routine has yet to earn the outrage of those attacking Joe Rogan for quoting others using a word," and attached a video from his show. Another said, "This is an old article but I wonder why the woke mob isn’t going after Stern… hmmmm. The selective targeting is so pathetic and calculated"

One user questioned, "Y'all remember when Howard Stern, Jimmy Kimmel, and Joy Behar was dressed in Black Face? #Hypocrites," while another said, "If the woke mob is so offended by what Joe Rogan said in the past... just wait until they discover Howard Stern."

One user slammed, "Libtards defending Howard Stern for decades of racist humor because 'he learned from his mistakes'. But a libtard will enthusiastically cancel people they disagree with over offenses decades old. Because libtards are pieces of hypocritical s**t. Stern hasn't changed a bit," while another said, "Guarantee there won't be the same outrage (if any) over Howard Stern saying the N word as they have with Joe Rogan. That's because he has become a tool of the Democrat machine."

A user said, "If Trudeau, Howard Stern, Kimmel, Biden, (and apparently) The Rock are unscathed for things said a decade ago, then it has to apply to #JoeRogan. Also, what's up with the Smear De Jour stuff? If they're doing a Plan B attack, it means Plan A wasn't working," while another piped, "Joe Rogan drops N bombs years ago in context not using as a slur yet Howard Stern regularly dropped them as slurs including blackface"

In a past interview with People, Stern had addressed his behavior and said, "I'll be the first to admit. I won't go back and watch those old shows; it's like, 'Who is that guy?' But that was my shtick, that's what I did and I own it. I don't think I got embraced by Nazi groups and hate groups. They seemed to think I was against them too. Everybody had a bone to pick with me."

He added, "Look, that was the show. I went into therapy and said, 'What is this? Do I always have to be the guy pulling my pants down? Can I find a way to do the show where I can be a lot happier?' Over the years, I did change the show. A lot of people who did like that humor, where I was completely pulling my pants off and doing it, those people are pissed off at me now. They think I'm a sellout and I'm not doing a good show anymore. I got soft." Further, he said, "I never go back and look at that stuff. I cringe when I look at myself 30 and 40 years ago... and that was 27 years ago. When I look at that, I go, 'Oh f***, I can't stand it.'"

Meanwhile, Joe Rogan issued an apology through a video posted on his Instagram. The caption read, "There’s been a lot of shit from the old episodes of the podcast that I wish I hadn’t said, or had said differently. This is my take on the worst of it."
